A very boozy lunch after a hot spring dehydrated me is a recipe for AMAZING AND NO DOUBT HIGH QUALITY karaoke by myself on a Sunday afternoon

I feel an argument brewing about the HAIRSPRAY/LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS double bill at the CULTURAL CENTRE CINEMA this afternoon

I went to Burger King for dinner as my colleague couldn’t be arsed going out last night, and I had one of their much touted Impossible burgers- the vegetarian whopper. It was so “real”, I genuinely thought they’d got it wrong and given me meat and I’m still not convinced they didn’t now.

Oh and I woke up at 5am rather than 3am so my jet lag seems to have finally sorted itself out- the day I leave

Morning DIDZ. What’s on the set list on this fine Japanese evening?

In bed. With coffee and chocolate. Fuck getting up. Plus Uni is on strike all week so I'm having a day off.

I need to try one of these, the halloumi ones were fucking dismal.

Are they available in the UK yet?

I've had some really good burgers- Beyond Burgers from Tesco are great, but they are stupidly expensive (£5.50 for two) and so much fat comes out of them. I also really like Iceland's rip off version of them- but NOTHING has been as convincing as this. The Whopper is quite "thin", which may help- once it gets fatter, I think the consistency would give it away a bit more, if that makes sense. Still, it was top notch.

I've still not had a veggie burger which beats a lovely fat portobello mushroom and a slice of halloumi.

For some reason, Beyond burgers are cheaper in Waitrose than Tesco.

I've had them out, but never cooked them at home.

This has been my main problem - I hate mushrooms. I could probably have managed the vegan thing if I liked mushrooms but they are Satan's arse danglers.

I could probably manage the vegetarian thing, if I didn't find two thirds of vegetables to be similarly unpleasant.

God I love mushrooms.

Then again, I love all veg. Well other than the fact I can leave a broad bean, but I'll choke it down if I have to...

Mr Sheena hates mushrooms, aubergines and fish, which are LITERALLY my three favourite things in the world. It's VERY annoying.

With him 100% on aubergines. Are you still eating fish, Shee?

Yes. And enjoying everything about it. I am trying to eat less fish as I go along, but when I go out I often feel aggrieved by the vegetarian meals being a bit shite. I will never be able to give up sushi either.

(I've also had chicken wings this trip. Twice :D But otherwise, mainly pescatarian)

NOT GOING! Don't see why we should walk in halfway through so we can see the film YOU want to see and not the one I DO.

I hear there is an UPCOMING HALLOUMI SHORTAGE. Mind you there's always an upcoming shortage of something. A while ago I was in a right tizzy about OLIVE OIL but nothing seems to have TRANSPIRED on the AVAILABILITY/PRICE front. Hoorah for CAPITALISM

There was a TERRIBLE aubergine shortage last year which led me to buying 4 organic ones for £3 (!) each for a recipe I'd got everything else for bar the aubergine which didn't turn up with the food delivery. I HAD NO CHOICE!

I was less bothered by the cauliflower one this year, but you could not find one for LOVE NOR MONEY.

I’m quite comfortable eating the odd bit of chicken, they dont have a huge carbon footprint, its easy to get well raised meat and lets face it, they arent intelligent like pigs.

Just gave the dog the opportunity, for the second day on the trot, to go where he wants on our walk. In previous times this usually meant we went on a nice long wander that took an hour or so. Yesterday he chose to walk through our estate on a usual, boring after-work route, towards the end I had to force him to walk the long way round to get home when he kept trying to take shortcuts. Today I gave him the choice again and he turned left out of our garden which usually means down to the bottom of the estate, down the massive hill, around the industrial estate and then back home via the local train-station steps (roughly 6500 steps on my Fitbit). Instead he went left again at the first corner then tried to go left at the second corner and I realised he was basically just taking me round the park at the back of our house so I forced him to go straight on and down to the bottom of the estate in the hope he'd then want to go further afield. Nope, when I turned left he lay down on the pavement and refused to move and I'm not strong enough to lift him up or make him go anywhere he really doesn't want to. He got up and came along happily when I turned right towards home. So I got 2600 steps out of him yesterday and only 1300 today. I have no idea why it's made me angry with him, although I love a nice walk with him it's bloody grim outside, cold, dull and drizzly, but I actually feel like he's jipped me out of something. It's ridiculous :D

Uh oh. I stupidly let my son open a tin of Quality Street earlier, and have been tucking in all afternoon. Not drinking this weekend was meant to stop me from indulging in EMPTY CALORIES.

Oh not Quality Street. The worst of the Christmas chocolates.

Mind you, I've gone off Roses since they changed their wrappers.

I much prefer Quality Street to Roses. I have a stupid amount of sweets in for everyone coming at Christmas as I like to stock up, but usually never touch them. This weekend all self control has gone out the window.

I did get slightly nostalgic in B&M the other day when I noticed they had the 1kg tins (not the poxy smaller tubs all the supermarkets are doing for less than a fiver) of Quality Street. Even in an octagonal tin.

Re Burger King - I wanted to try the Halloumi burger until I realised they fry it in the same oil as their chicken and fish burgers which kinda defeats the purpose. Apparently it's because their restaurants don't have the capability to be able to fry them separately. I do wonder how the cook the Impossible burger though. McDonalds changed their Veggie Deluxe earlier this year and the new one is fucking AWFUL. I never got to try the vegan KFC one as it wasn't available here. But I'm not sure I would want to eat there anyway with their practices. I'm happy with a vegan sausage roll from Greggs anyway!

I loved the old tins of sweets. Unfortunately most (maybe all?) of mine are big plastic tubs. I don’t really eat many sweets so am not really snobbish about the packaging.

I am not vegetarian, but I can’t step foot in to any of the aforementioned eateries as the SMELL of fried processed crap knocks me sick.

Last time I was in KFC was 2011. I was running from drinks with my workies to a gig and needed food. KFC was...well, it was open and it was there and it would be quick. It was ned city, full of bams noising each other up. I think the food was below average, even for them. The chips, I remember, looked like they'd been run under a tap.
