FFS, I’m starting to get irritated at people in public still freely coughing away and not covering their mouths. It annoys me at the best of times, but how are they so blinded?
 
WELL...

Someone in our office who has had a shitter of a cough for about a month was taken away by the senior manager and then packed up and left the office. The rumour mill is going wild that she's been told to self-isolate. The chances of this being true are pretty slender but folk are getting seriously panicky and that becomes cyclical. Nothing catches on quite like a panic...
 
Despite saying we wouldn't do it, the other half said we'd better stock up on a few things so I've come home to a cupboard of about 15 tins of chopped tomatoes :manson:

Oh and tinned fruit in SYRUP :zombie: Which we never ever buy. Apparently we're now 80 year old women.
 
Nobody goes out in my town anyway so a community of self isolation will be like any other day
 
They're also saying that 14 days isolation is not enough as people have still passed it on after that time. They're now saying it should be 28 days..

It's such a load of old shit. Mr L phoned me one day last week as APPARENTLY a colleague on another floor of his office had been sent home and told to self isolate as he had cold symptoms, and his teenage daughter had just returned from skiing in Italy. I told him to pull himself together (and buy two gross of Andrex on the way home, just to be safe), and thought no more of it until yesterday. Turns out it WASN'T someone on another floor, but another building, and he didn't have any symptoms, he just decided to take a couple of days off and joked about the daughter business :DAF:.
 
just got a text that my return flight from london at the end of the month has been jancelled.

do i reschedule the return? do i cancel the whole trip? i was planning on deciding a week ahead, ugh.

I was gonna cancel, then you reminded me of who I am. Everything is clearer than a mirror is to woman, just the same as a dog is to man.
 
I do hope there’s not been a rush on tinned potatoes. Everyone loves THEM and I don’t want my very popular soirées to be ruined :(
 
Mr S has a strange fancy for TINNED CARROTS. But then he does like to BOIL FRESH ONES into SUBMISSION and MUSH
 
I wish you could still buy those massive jars of (PROBABLY RADIOACTIVE) cherries from Eastern Europe. God I used to love those
 
Todays number is 319. Which is less than expected but they tested less people. There is still a 3% positive outcome at the moment...

:D Well I certainly don't intend to ever OPEN the things. They'll be in that cupboard until this sniffle-bug has got every last one of us and even then, a rummage through the bins will come before ever resorting to that.

Although just as a form of nostalgic self harm we could have TINNED PEACHES AND ICE CREAM for dinner I suppose

Fact is, if they genuinely thought it was Covid-19, they'd have to shut the office and deep-clean it. It's just performative, showing they care when actually, they're just fed up with the sound of her coughing all bastard day..

And on the vegetable front, I think we can all agree that nothing’s nicer than tinned mushrooms. Mmm... MORE PLEASE MUM :disco:
 
I’m actually quite the fan of tinned MANDARIN ORANGES although I rarely buy them if ever. (Well actually NEVER.) So DEAR!
 
We used to have tinned fruit and evaporated milk. I wonder how stocks of THAT are doing

Other than the tinned tomato flurry, we have pineapple chunks (mercifully these ones appear to be in juice) and quite a few tins of MUSHY PEAS which I will not object to :disco:

And lots and lots and lots of instant noodles.

Oh and a cheap packet of bourbon biscuits which I can only assume was aisle-grabbing-madness induced, though they keep eyeing me up every time I walk in the kitchen :horny:

:D What a TREAT

Actually tinned oranges are quite pleasant and by and large I'll eat any tinned veg, even though they all taste boiled beyond all texture and flavour. Which is probably the point
 
In all honesty, on account of my OCD with health-related matters, it’s actually quite oddly SATISFYING to have the rest of the world see what it’s like to be constantly worrying about coughing around them or contamination through touching. WELCOME TO MY WORLD.

Are we not running out of TEA and SUGAR? Isn't that what a sizeable chunk of the population buy when there's the slightest suggestion of a frost and cold breeze?

I think the only tinned vegetables I actually LIKE are as follows:

1. Mushy peas: A fish supper’s just not a fish supper without them :disco:
2. Carrots: As an impressively muscular and very health-conscious homosexual I do actually prefer RAW carrots these days but there’s nothing nicer than the luxury of a tinned carrot. What a super way to keep trim and impress those hard to please guests :disco:
 
I'm quite partial to a tinned soup, however ages ago I bought a couple of dented, reduced Tesco Value tins of chicken soup. With the reduction they were about 8 pence each. Not quite the secret bargain gem I was hoping for, it was the most foul tasting SLOP imaginable.

I actually wrapped up the other tin and gave it to my noted food-snob mum (though not as a kid, that was Dolmio jars aplenty back then) as a joke Christmas present as I was so determined someone else should experience the HORROR.

Our work has just put a ban on people working from home and insisting we all come to the office.

Because it can't handle the VPN traffic if too many people are forced to work from home, so us healthy ones need to put ourselves at risk. hooray!
 
I'm now craving some del monte fruit cocktail and tip top. Solid dessert growing up.
 
It's going to be a bumper year for the harvest festival if people have bought loads of horrible tins that they need to get rid of come autumn time.
