I have a question. If it does get cancelled, can we put Graham Norton in a cupboard for 4 hours anyway?
 
WHEN. And yes, I don’t see why not. Few boxes of Chablis and a nice bumboy - because our Graham is FAMOUSLY TOP - should keep him quiet :disco:

As much as I’m loving the prospect of hysterical fallout, I would like to say that I’ll feel sorry for @Kevin if it’s cancelled because he always has nice things to say and also it’s in his vaderland :(

However, most of the rest of you, not so much. Some of you, not at all :tongueout:
 
I have to say I wouldn’t care half as much if it weren’t for the fact it’s in The Netherlands and my lovely Dutch friend who had called in god knows what kind of favours to find us an affordable place to stay wasn’t SO excited about finally getting to host the thing.
 
If it does get completely cancelled and the 2020 winner reduced to endless online arguments about who it would have been, I assume that the Netherlands would still get to host in 2021. It's not like there would be an obvious more deserving choice.

I'd like to hope so. I'd much rather they get to host as they would have wanted to (whether that be a delayed 2020 contest or starting afresh in 2021) than having to put on a weird zombie Eurovision and passing it on.

I can see the reasoning behind delaying the decision, as who knows how this will be in a months time.

I'm assuming either way they are working on the contingency.

I remember a friend telling me he went to an ESC night in Dublin and there was a guy sitting down watching the entire voting sequence from a past contest on his phone. And not even one of the ones we won. :confused:

Face it sweeties, if you've gotten het up over who came 5th in a round of Moopyvision Belgium then you're on a hiding to nothing so just ENJOY what you ENJOY and let others do the same.

Well, no. I'd like to think attending the contest once, maybe watching the Melodifestival when I can be bothered and generally watching on TV on the night is kinda healthy and not really weird. And then is wasting your entire allocation of annual leave EVERY SINGLE YEAR going to watch rehearsals of the same show whilst pretending you're a journalist... :D

There's no way they are going to carry on delaying the decision to mid April, is there? I assume it's only the lack of any firm Plan B which is stopping an announcement being made now.

It is exactly that. I also think they won't wait until mid April.
 
Poll added for people's preferred options.

I'm hoping for a delay until late Summer/Autumn. A studio Eurovision just wouldn't have the MAGIC, and it'd be a big shame for the Netherlands to have it wind up as a total non-event.
 
I think (or would at least HOPE) they are working up a Plan B, C, D and E and will decide mid-April which one to activate.

They should be clearer about that in their various statements saying that they're ploughing on ahead with plans though. I don't think there's anything wrong with planning as if it will be happening, but the hysterical sorts would be freaking out a lot less if they were more explicit about the fact there are back-up plans being made and that they're talking to the various broadcasters about them.
