Yes, absolutely agree, but when you deny people with deviating views and opinions from your own (and they’re not even talking about ”gross views”) then you’re imposing your own opinions on everyone else.
 
Are you saying that people are owed a megaphone to shout their views all over the place, whatever those views might be? Anything else is the opposing side shutting down speech?

I'm not saying deny those views, I'm saying expect there to be some kickback if you wish to voice them.

All politics aside I’ve always found them to be be musically TURGID so I can’t say I’ll miss them terribly.

Anyone would think the left had spent the past few months obsessing over pointless, superficial changes to popular culture as an antidote to inequality.

Farage's job is obviously to whip this up into the outrage of the week but the Proms story wouldn't have got traction if it weren't so plausible. Foisting the views of an academic fringe on the rest of society will not end well for us.

Manufactured outrage about a song gets more traction in the press than actual outrage over, for example, a single mother being found dead next to her child due to racist, punitive immigration policy because it sells more papers, not because it's one in the eye to an "academic fringe".

Rule Britannia is OK musically, Land Of Hope And Glory is pitifully drab - bombast as substitute. Lyrically, they are, of course, shite.
 
I actually like Land of Hope and Glory. Not in a gammony way, I just enjoy the tune. Are we still allowed to like I Vow to Thee My Country? I hope so, it’s mint.
