The last album. I’m guessing the reissue ( for September Sun :disco: ) but we could go for the standard edition?
 
Standard edition please... the tracklist is a bit off on the reissue and the new tracks do tip the scales toward filler a tad.
 
"Sia is a Steps fan" is Claire's "I've WORKED WITH GARY BARLOW", just not shoe-horned in during a massage appointment.

Steps covering Jenny Silver would be everything we all deserve in 2020 and MORE. It already comes with a ridiculous dance routine hand movement for the chorus and all.

I wish they’d do more lost gay classics. I mean if Rod Stewart can do his Great American Songbook albums, Spets can do their Great Lost Gay Moments songbook album
 
I was starting to think that next year was looking more likely but this is all VERY EXCITING

Could anyone other than Steps follow their definitely not from the bottom of Sia's drawer opening track with a cover of a Swedish Housewife? I can imagine Faye and Claire doing very nicely on Fathers Eyes too.

Their most ambitious album to date, What The Future Holds showcases the big melodic choruses of their top-tier bangers but also brings back the harmony-laden ballads and some atmospheric mid-tempos. What the Future Holds is the best distillation of Steps so far; an album that shows both a deeper shade of blue and a brighter future.

However, 'ballads' plural? I'm not sure what a Claire Richards solo album is for if not to get the balladry out if her system.

Something In Your Eyes is DEFINITELY the Jenny Silver song according to this. The Mollie King co-write was originally for her album, 10 writers is rather ridiculous though. Robin Stjernberg represented Sweden at Eurovision in 2013, and Isa Molin participated in Melodifestivalen in 2015 and 2016.

It does seem a bit like a hodge-podge of writers though, every song is by someone different.

MNEK tweeted today it was "fake news" he was involved in this album, but said he loves Deepest (sic) Shade of Blue. Anyway clearly he didn't know it was being used and he deleted the tweet.

I saw Ina Wroldsen live last year and she did Father's Eyes which was great, love anything written by her.
 
That Isa isn’t the Melodifestivalen Isa, but she has been featured on Scandipop a few times and is pretty good.

The 11 writers one is presumably because it’s a Xenomania concoction, which is fairly normal for them isn’t it?

oh you’re right, it is a different Isa but this one DOES have MF links, she wrote Lisa Ajax’s Torn. I knew I recognised her name I’m expecting a big ballad of the same type.

Nice to have it on streaming. Shame they fucked up the momementum on it.
 
There's such a glut of new music on a Friday, maybe the thinking is to get ahead of it and maximise publicity considering it'll never chart well regardless of the day
 
It’s stupid in the sense that it will unlikely chart at all, as sales will be split with two days this week but pretty much zero streaming, then slower sales next week as they fall but some (albeit minor) streams then.

To be fair, they would likely make about #55 at best anyway with streaming levels as they are so doesn’t really matter.

Maybe I'm stuck in 1998 a bit, but I would have thought Steps CAN actually compete on a Friday. They'd be featured on New Hits/New Pop on Spotify playlists SURELY and they have a very strong nostalgia pullback. Moreso than the likes of Kylie for example who never really went away so has strictly become a Radio 2 artisté.

Not saying they could trouble the Top 10 or anything, but I don't think they'd be as buried in the New Music Friday scramble as they think they'd be.

I'm not sure it matters so much. Their marble floors and farmsteads are paid for by the tours. This is just the promo.

I think they would do okay on the first day, but I just can’t imagine them getting added to many playlists that would allow them to stay getting consistent streams.

Pussycat Dolls managed a few months floating the top 200 though so you never know.

I could be wrong as I don't use them very much but I thought the "new pop" etc. playlists stayed the same for a week. It would count for something surely. A sensible #74 hit or similar. :)
 
Apparently they're owed £70k from their last tour after the company that promoted it went into liquidation.

Decent lead single. No "Scared Of The Dark" but WHAT IS?

It's only made me more excited for their "Something In Your Eyes" cover with LSL mumbling/miming all the ad-libs/backing vocals. :disco: :D
