ROLL UP! ROLL UP! You wanted it, you got it. Here's the first elections since 2018, here by popular demand.

Fancy becoming administrator or moderator of Moopy? Well, good for you. Let's go through the ground rules.

An ADMINISTRATOR is broadly the gatekeeper to Moopy, who holds the keys. Amongst other things, they can:
  • Turn Moopy on/off
  • Install forum upgrades
  • Talk to the server hosts, fix issues like downtime
  • Change the structure of the forums, colour schemes, add new forums, change banners
  • Access the backing database and root forum code
  • +all the stuff a moderator can do
Anyone can be administrator. Technical knowledge is useful, but not essential. There's plenty you can do without knowing your html from your elbow-tml.

A MODERATOR is there to ensure orderly use of the forums. These usually are:
  • Move/split/merge threads
  • Edit posts by anyone
  • issuing of bans
Technical knowledge is unessential.

In both instances, being present is useful. You can go on holidays, but if you're planning on seriously downgrading your time here, this ain't for you.
All electable positions are up for grabs. Nobody in the existing team gets a free pass.

Admin elections

We are electing TWO administrators.
  • If there are more than 2 candidates, there will be a vote where people can vote for (up to) two people from the pool of applicants.
  • If there are 2 or fewer candidates, there will be a 'vote of confidence' vote where candidates need to pass a 50% threshold of confidence.
Mod Elections

We are electing FIVE moderators.

  • If there are more than 5 candidates, there will be a vote where people can vote for (up to) 5 people from the pool of applicants. HOWEVER, if there are a large number of candidates and the vote for 5/6/7th is close, we may have more.
  • If there are 5 or fewer candidates, there will be a 'vote of confidence' vote where candidates need to pass a 50% threshold of confidence.
Non-electable positions
  • Non-executive Moopy Treasurer - This is a life position that has no power. Held by Star.
  • Non-executive chief goose - This is a non-electable position with no power. Currently held by The Sexual Goose.
We'll do the admin elections first, followed by the moderator elections. This allows anyone who fails to become admin the chance to apply to be a moderator.
The admin election will be run by @Star as a neutral party.
The moderator election will be run by one of the two newly elected admin.
Generally, you'll be asked to put your name forward for either. You can state a manifesto, if you desire. Then there'll be voting by PM.
We'd like to get this moving quickly, and nobody should be on a long holiday at the moment, so don't expect these things to run for ages.

It sounds like a total headache after tag gate, cum gate and whichever one I've missed.

Scenario: big ron is accused of bullying KindaCool. Dub complains to you about it. Funky says you're not doing enough. Chlammy is very upset and threatening to quit. In the meantime VoR has told everyone on the forum what you've being saying in the mod forum.

What do you do?
 
I do STILL get a little pissed off that I can't just merge/split etc after all these years. Not enough to want to stand again, though.

Hopefully at least a couple of people who have been very active here over the last six months will be up for it.

That's literally the only reason I'd do it. Part of the role is spotting the need to split for a new potential topic.

Yes, it isn't ENOUGH really, is it?

I'd encourage anyone who has an interest in the place and a drive to do it to put themselves forward.

Fucking hell plenty to UNPACK here;

The BULLYING COMPLAINTS look pretty serious what with outrage from fellow members. I would make an INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT whilst restoring peace by asking our dear friend vespertine if he’d like to post another cum shot. I’d also RUN IT BY my fellow mods if they’re around (and they SHOULD be) to make sure there’s some sort of AGREEMENT.

And if VoR did that then he can FUCK OFF.

Are all the current mods, other than Kala, standing for re-election?

And also, I suspect a lot goes on behind the scenes, but as current admin @Indie and @octophone can we have references for the current mods? :eyes:

I don’t remember the exact circumstance recently, but I remember sending Star a message saying 'aren't you glad you're not admin any more?' not that long ago...

I just want to draw particular attention to this - is there anyone with some technical knowledge who would be interested in the Admin role?
