this hit number 1 on itunes us because of a tiktok video.



“Dreams” has been propelled up the charts thanks to a viral video on TikTok. Nathan Apodaca aka @420doggface208 drinks from a bottle of Cran-Raspberry juice while skateboarding. Huh? That’s right. “Dreams” is now streaming like crazy.

“Dreams” sold 72,000 copies last week and about the same so far this week via streaming. For the year 2020, “Dreams” has sold 1.1 million copies. Stevie Nicks wrote it, and she’s collecting mucho royalties. (Thanks to Buzz Angle for the stats.)

A timeless classic. Didn’t it go viral a year or so ago with the dancing cheerleaders video? Stevie’s retirement cocaine pot overfloweth!
 
Honestly one of the best songs ever. Stevie is a ROCK GODDESS.
 
Although I am also quite partial to The Corrs version. The opening music is AMAZING.
 
I’ve never cared for this largely because of The Corrs. I can’t unhear it.

it's really QUITE impressive. for reference, that's more or less exactly on par with the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, Elton John and Pink Floyd. It's way ahead of ABBA and Bowie. Labels must be making SERIOUS COIN from these artists, even in the streaming era, where all income is profit and it's steady year after year.
 
their outdoor Berlin concert last year (feels like a lifetime ago) in the POURING rain remains one of the defining experiences of my life quite honestly. musical or otherwise. it was so joyous.
 
I came so close to seeing their last tour but I ended up being put off by the price. I'm GUTTED now that Lindsey's been give the boot. I fear I'll never catch the classic lineup. :(

obviously Stevie is an ethereal witchy goddess from another dimension and what she brought to Fleetwood Mac is its own gorgeously unique thing, but I think I have equally big love for the Christina McVie/Lindsey Buckingham dynamic and the sweeter pop songs that emerged from that, especially on Tango in the Night.

God they're amazing.

Sorry Stevie, but I prefer Songbird to anything you wrote.
 
When I was hostel hopping in California I was on a bus and this FIT (but clearly nuts) American Jock got on the bus and sat next to me and demanded to know what I was listening to and then asked for one of my headphones and we spent a magical moment listening to “Songbird” together going to downtown San Diego.
 
Just indulging myself in Spotify song radio based on Songbird. It's a right corker.
 
There's I think THREE BBC Four documentaries on Fleetwood Mac (one of them focused on Christine) and they're all ESSENTIAL VIEWING for any fans of the band: Stevie (and her fan :disco: ) with a score to SETTLE throughout, Lindsay being diplomatic but LOWER-CASE SHADY about her all the time, Christine UTTERLY HORRIFIED at any hint of EMOTIONS SURFACING ("When I rejoined the Mac I asked the guys what had happened while I was away and by all accounts it was just years of Stevie and Lindsay fighting all the time so I didn't miss much" :D) and of course the rhythm section being on ANOTHER PLANET altogether, although John McVie does a very POOR JOB of pretending he never knew "You make loving fun" was about Christine's new boyfriend ("I never listened to the lyrics" sure Jan :eyes: ).

There's a reason they're the best rock 'n' roll band of all time - who needs to hear about Keith Richards and Mick Jagger fighting over ROYALTIES when you can have full-on UNRESOLVED MARITAL DRAMAS with this lot?
 
I'm probably the only one who thinks so, but this is neither the best Mac song nor the best version of Dreams. I find it quite dull, and both The Corrs and even Deep Dish made this a lot more witchy and ethereal.

I truly love Christine, she is very talented and kind of the UNSUNG HERO in between all this drama, and the doc was actually a bit sad because beyond all the ROLLERCOASTER RIDES there are glimpses of her being a bit of a LONER with a DRINKING PROBLEM :( See if you get the same feeling.

I watched it, and had a definite sense of melancholy when it finished.

I had entirely forgotten that the Deep Dish album had a cover/re-recording of Dreams. I can't say I agree that it's BETTER or MORE ETHEREAL but they didn't do a bad job at all.
 
I love this, but prefer "Gypsy" and "Rhiannon" overall. As much as I enjoy their hits, I have never actually ventured into full album territory. What is the best one to begin with?

Rumours is the classic for a reason. Tango In The Night is the poppiest though and features some excellent deep cuts.
 
Rumours is definitely the place to start.

Tango is also very accessible although low on Stevie, who was busy with her solo career (and a cocktail of life-ruining drugs) at the time, so they stitched some demos together and had Lindsay pretend to be her on backing vox.

Tusk is what happens when you give a bunch of coked-out people who despise one another a few million dollars and lock them in a recording studio. Naturally it's INCREDIBLE.
 
Yeah, aside from the utterly majestic Seven Wonders (which by most accounts she had a VERY minimal input into) the Stevie cuts on Tango aren’t the best. I do have a soft spot for ‘Welcome to the Room’, but even by her standards it really is utter nonsense :D

The Mcvie and Buckingham cuts are for the most part outstanding though.
