I don't watch Boris Johnson on TV but apparently he's just confirmed that the new UK strain of Corona is deadlier than the previous one :/
He did, but it's based in preliminary data and isn't a sure fire thing yet, and it's a difference in mortality for above 70s from 10/1000 to 14/1000 so it's not massively different if true

Ooh yay, 77 south Africa variant cases found in the UK, which means it's probably many more.

You know, the one that they don't know if it gets around the vaccine or not.

See you in 2024, normality :)

Oh shit. Did the say where?

Not that it matters, I suppose as it will spread through the country like wildfire.

They also said there is no evidence of either variant in the community yet and they can all be traced back to travel, but I don’t think that matters really. 77 cases seems past the point of no return for eliminating it.

We had someone come into work this afternoon asking for directions to the nearby test centre. How stupid do you have to be to think doing this is okay?

12 months of JOLLY JAPES

I wish i could relive it all again. Maybe when my life finally flashes before my eyes, all i'll see is the big fucking grey of 2020/1 nothingness.

Still trying to get approval to work from home again. Don't know why it's so difficult, I proved last time that I can work just as effectively (more so in fact!) and work every minute that I'm supposed to etc. They're taking the piss at the moment, put me on furlough for 2 weeks and where everyone else in the company was allowed to take half a day's holiday per day to top up the 20% pay, when I asked they took a full day. So I had to spend 2 weeks holiday to get paid fully. I asked why, and didn't get an answer back. I know, "be glad you still have a job" but still...

Had a sit down with the line manager who asked about what projects I'm working on and poring over every detail, how long will that actually take really, do you actually need to be doing that, can we not outsource x and y, etc. Under the guise of justifying WFH but to be honest I'm really feeling like they're questioning the existence of my job :/

Stupid thing is, on site I could be sat playing Solitaire all day and they wouldn't notice or care, it's completely hands off. Want to work from home? Mayyyyyyyyyyybe we'll think about it, but you'll have to justify and account for every nanosecond...

(They're a manufacturer, which is why I can't just sic the law on their ass)

I didn't think I could get more furious at this shitshow of a government and their enablers in the press, but I was wrong:

I mean the fucking STATE of these :manson:

Ugh. Special award to the one that shall not be named managing to invoke Remembrance Day for added PATRIOTIC BONER. Never stop selling.

One tiny, tiny plus. He looks like absolute shit in those photos. I'm sure they've been colour-adjusted to make him look more pale and stuff but he still looks utterly fucked.

Guilt can do that to you.

Give some managers an excuse to micro-manage and they'll be right on it.

Once again strangely Piers Morgan this morning being a voice of reason. Asking if Boris is accepting responsibility, shouldn’t he just resign?

Johnson has normalised not resigning to the point of bringing back previous resigners like Patel. In the doing so, he set a precedent he can now follow - he can do a sad on the telly and not resign.
