Despite wanting to abolish the monarchy with immediate effect, I must confess that in my weaker moments these past few days I've considered joining The Queue. It would be quite an interesting fixed-point-in-history curio to be a part of.

It's mainly the fear of getting stuck next to some awful cunt and having to make small talk with them for 15-36 hours that's stopping me. Also I have a job. Oh and I'd not want to be spotted by anyone I know on the livestream. The shame of it!
 
Fear of small talk seems like such a British thing. Here I would just nod, smile and look away if I don't feel like talking to someone.

I couldn’t think of anything WORSE. Stick to your guns sweetheart, and don’t be influenced by the media. Part of history or not, standing in a queue for hours on end for 10 seconds with a bit of wood, with deadwood inside is not for me.

I can't speak for the other DISSENTING GAYS and I'm not LOON SHAMING or minimising the HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE of the figure of the head of state changing (whether you like the monarchy or not), but the lack of CRITICAL THINKING on who this woman was, what she represented and what she and her army of lawyers and powers that be behind the curtain continued to lobby for and prop up in order to keep the old world order intact is FLABBERGASTING. She wasn't a HARMLESS OLD NANA you know!

The REVERENCE shown to her and the institution (of which this queue is an expression of) is a TACIT ACCEPTANCE of the status quo. Why do people who are smart enough to see what is wrong with British society suddenly stop engaging their brain when it comes to the monarchy, the ultimate expression of the fucked up, rotten class system at play in this country. It's infuriating.

The main thing I've learned from her death is how many shops have my email address. They have all been falling over themselves the last few days to email me to let me know they aren't open Monday.
 
I had to come away from the livestream. My family were stood in the doorway with concerned faces pensively asking if everything was OK.

I was watching people being interviewed about why they're happy to queue for so long and they all said they'd queue for as long as it took, and that Queenie dedicated her life to us for 70 years so the least they can do is queue to pay their respects for 20 hours.

Which is lovely. But absolutely no way on earth would I do that. I wouldn't even queue that long to have sex with 2 out 4 of the Westlife members.
