This Tears For Fears track is less offensive than I remembered. Actually not at all bad.
 
Haddaway. What was the story with this? Was it just one of those one-offs that comes out of the clubs?
 
My computer disliked this episode so much that it crashed during the Tasmin Archer video. Point taken! :D
 
Caught in the Middle is a tune but that performance felt a bit off. I don't know whether it was the mix...

Daniel O'FuckingDonnell was a low.
 
Don't remember this A-ha tune. It feels a bit "serious music". Great vocal performance tho'.
 
I have no memory of PM Dawn collaborating with PM Dawn either.

Thinking about it, this episode fell while I was doing my 3rd year uni exams which is probably why I'm scratching my head so much; I won't have watched it at the time.
 
"Can You Forgive Her" - that's more like it. Still a beauty. Chris Lowe fondling that egg is still priceless.
 
Chaka Demus and Pliers still sound pretty decent too. Quite a strange sounding record as well.
 
Oh, it's Helen and her band Sade. This is good too - the production is of-its-time but in a period-piece way rather than sounding dated.
 
I like this Therapy? song but not as much as the one before or the one after.
 
The Time Frequency were absolute royalty in Glasgow around this time. Mary Kiani ended up as rhyming slang, a sure sign you've made a mark.
 
"Fields Of Gold" is one of very few non-Police Sting song I actually like. There's a wisdom in there.
 
Gabrielle at #2 was really the highest ever chart debut by a (completely) new artist? I wonder how long that lasted. "Dreams" is still decent.
 
The first single from that album, "Your Town" was the only thing they ever did that I really liked. But the rest of it was all a bit desperate - they clearly looked at U2 in their Achtung Baby phase (Zooropa comes out in '93, doesn't it?) and decided to have a piece of that but it didn't suit them at all. They broke up very shortly after this.
 
I had completely forgotten about East 17's cover of "West End Girls". It's AWFUL. :D
 
This Brian May song is hilarious - every rawk cliche in the book crammed into 3 minutes. The goodwill towards him was understandable but this is absolutely unbearable.
 
Quite fun that seemingly the entire audience knows at least some of the words to I Will Survive. Terrible remix tho'.
 
If you didn't already know that New Order hated each other by mid '93, this performance would make it clear. 4 people in their own worlds.
 
Again, screaming for Take That - they must have been hitting a commercial peak at this point.

He's just released a 30 year anniversary of his most successful album with all songs re-recorded and it's fucking HILARIOUS. He's decided to re-version all the songs into more "timeless" soul songs, completely stripping away the fabulous 80s funk sound of the originals, and recording brand new vocals, and to say his voice has not aged well is an understatement. I feel bad for laughing but MY GOD. It's like a bad karaoke experiment.

I suspect that Sarah Washington never envisaged having to sing I Will Always Love You live on TOTP when she recorded it.
 
The lead singer of Bad Boys Inc really was SCREAMING

A shonky Take That knock off it may be but I still find it quite fun.

Still finding 1993 a bit of a slog to be honest. Still, the odd gem has been strewn among the muck so I plough on...Taylor Dayne...I dunno if this is a cover but it certainly wanted to be Young Hearts Run Free Part 2.

This Michael Jackson song is one that had slipped my mind. Not unpleasant.
