I'm about 10 miles from Bath. No idea how much a single costs because I'd never get one, and we don't have return tickets either. So I'd get a day ticket which would be £7.

It's not luck per se, our older generations had to fight for all we have now as the very basics of employment.
What I don't get is why the effect of it all didn't cross over to the states and why people there didn't ask for the same standards.

Less than 2 euros in athens and about 3.5 in the village (one way). You can get round trip discounts on the train but not the bus, they both provide some discounts and plans for people who travel a lot though. Maybe sth like a month's or a year's pass could cost less than what you already be paying?

Well I've just discovered I can get a multi ticket thing that lets me have 30 day uses not consecutively. That may be my best option. Until I move to the same town the shop is in
