He's disgusting, let's be honest. I'm actually expecting some sort of far-too-late, focus grouped to death moment soon where he changes his mind or at least expresses his support for the trans community and that will honestly be worse - this is one of those issues where you should be able to full-throatedly defend the marginalised group immediately and straight off the bat without doing fucking internal polling on it or whatever.
 
Re Labour: why win big when you can win correctly?

If the Tories have fallen off a cliff, you can win power with your own agenda. I get the difference between a soft majority and a comfortable majority but do you really need a massive majority if it means compromising what you stand for? It’s not like the US where you need to own the presidency, house and senate to make anything happen. Get a majority and get to work.

Especially given the long term consequences certain policy decisions can have. How are Lib Dems polling among the young, 13 years later?

Labour are collecting quite the basket of nonsense for anyone under the age of 40, and that will have an effect for a fair few elections to come. Labour have the space to be right about some things, rather than just on the right, and there are long term benefits to that which I reckon would be better than an extra 40 seats to their majority.

God, Jeremy Corbyn is so bitter. This isn't a pro Starmer post, but my days the man is exhausting.

 
He starts off fine, but then starts shouting and throwing accusations at the interviewer, who remains calm throughout. It's a fairly left leaning podcast, but he's clearly highly embittered from the experience
 
I don’t know if he’s been misquoted but nothing in that tweet makes sense.

I listened to it, that's what he said. It's by far his weakest section, it comes across as naive.
 
Why, when Labour is walking into a GE win, is Starmer picking fights with Corbyn? This whole row about Corbyn standing is tearing open old wounds and making the party look a mess. I don’t understand.
 
I saw Bernie on Thursday at the Southbank. What a trooper he was. 2 hours in full swing advocating for Medicare like he was in Flint, Michigan :disco: Not even a TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT gets Bernie off message!
 
Love Bernie. But that guy was right. Bernie would not have beaten Trump.
 
He wouldn't have won because if he'd got the nomination the Democratic Party apparatus would've done everything they could to hamper him, but on a level playing field with the party behind him he absolutely would've beaten Trump both times.
 
It wouldn’t have been because of the Democratic Party! It would have been because the Trump camp would have run an aggressive anti-socialism campaign with so many lies and assumptions that would have put such fear in the moderate older generation, he wouldn’t have stood a chance.

Polls showing him ahead of Trump prior to the nomination mean nothing - at that point the conservatives had not mounted an offence yet. Bernie is smart enough to know that but whatever.

I think you’re underestimating how scary the word “socialist” to older Americans

If he got the nomination in 2020, the Democratic Party would have had to get behind him. Hampering him would be good for trump, and the main thing uniting the democrats was fear of him
 
I think Bernie may have won in 2020, but i feel extremely confident he wouldn’t have won Georgia, and I really think he would have done worse than Hillary in 2016

It's evidence that backs up that he would beat Trump. Not definitive by any means, but better than your gut feeling that Trump would win.

Sanders had a pathway to the presidency, it would have been a different coalition than Bidens, and there is no way to definitively say one way or the other how it would have played out.

I think saying ‘your opinion’ rather than ‘your gut feeling’ is more respectful to the discussion, but okay.

It’s not like I’m alone in this thought. He didn’t get nominated for a start.
