I think I preferred the other one!

Anyway, this has a run time of 2h22
 
Chu padded out In the Heights somehow despite their being 4 or 5 less songs than the stage show, so I'm not surprised by the lengthy running time.

Ariana's voice really grates in the trailer, I'm sure it won't be the same in the final product.
 
It seems the two new songs will be in Part II

Oh I’m glad. Yes I need the wider lore covered in the book but not the musical please. It was surely the main reason to make a film and then make 2 of them.
 
I'm glad in terms of potential plot lines, but less so in terms of wanting to take an 8 year old great niece to see it.

They really should cut an abridged version for younger audiences.
 
The ethnic cleansing is part of a much wider lore that introduces other lands and races of Oz... my memory is hazy now but the book refers to a large backstory involving
munchkinland and Oz's planned destruction of it
that I don't THINK was ever referenced in the musical. There's more examples of this. I don't think they would specifically include that as a major plot device but there's much more of Elpheba's background and motives that they could explore with flashbacks. But just generally speaking, there's just lots more detail in the books about the places that the characters come from that they could flesh out.
 
I suspect they will skip over the ethnic cleansing for some nice lingering shots of Arianna Grande looking hot and Oscar-worthy.
 
I haven't heard anything about the original song yet, has anything been hinted? Ariana would make sense but they can't really give her one and not Cynthia, so maybe a duet or one each?

The might downgrade it from ethnic cleansing to old fashioned xenophobia but I think the chance to be "hot topic" but will be too much of a temptation for JMC and Co to ignore.

So no original song for this coming awards season... what an odd choice!
 
Why aren't there two Elphabas?! A student version would be cute. But no, two Glindas in pink dresses.

Clearly there are a LOT of psychopaths about

I'm AGOG at the number of shops that sell them, and hundreds (if not thousands) they all seem to stock.
 
I have a Golden Girls set and a Mean Girls set at Home and a Barbie one in my office :D
