I was reading about someone who flew to Miami via Hong Kong from Sydney - they got refused entry because their choice of route was a bit weird

This phone thing - he does realise that they are just thing out of THOUSANDS of things in the US that are not sourced locally and will therefore skyrocket in price

The news footage of this particular attack was pretty harrowing. Fuck Trump, I hope someone cluster bombs him up the arse.
 
He just blocked all funding to Harvard because they refused to remove their DEI initiatives and ban certain studies (relating of course to LGBTQ)

This free speech tirade where bullies and racists should be allowed to say what they want, but anyone questioning or disagreeing with the Trump administration is not, is some next level Gilead dystopian bullshit and it’s actually happening in real time and only a small fraction of Americans seem to give a shit?
 
I mean bullies and racists can say what they want to anyway. Nobody needs permission to use their mouths. But for someone who loves to waffle on about how much they love free speech, he sure is butthurt about how a PRIVATE organization handles its PRIVATE business in PRIVATE. Regardless of your opinion on DEI, it's not his place to tell private organizations how to conduct their business.

But something like 70% of Harvard's revenue is federally funded. How much of that is under threat from Trump's policies I'm not sure though.
 
The 70% seems to relate to its research programs, its revenues are 6.5b so the 2.2 cut by the government is around a third. Harvard can probably grin and bear it until the next administration with the $60b it has in its coffers but it’s still probably going to have to cut back research in the short term.
 
Obviously just unbelievably dumb to cut research funding to your best and most well known university if you want to continue your nations competitiveness in science/arts/culture/education. I’m sure the return on their investment in Harvard was huge but Trump does seem committed to flushing every advantage the US has down the TOILET!
 
They have 58bn in the bank, so its irrelevant. Whats important is they are setting a precedent for academic resistance to the bullshit

Harvard might be fine but other businesses won’t be

Education and the media are their current main targets. They’re following the playbook page by page. It’s fucking terrifying.
