Capote (2005)

Having read "In Cold Blood" several years back. Well dramatised & compelling.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was an actor of rare talent, supported strongly by the often overlooked & supremely talented Catherine Keener as Harper Lee. The less heralded Clifton Collins Junior didn't get many notices as Perry Smith, but he really impressed me. Hell of a tricky ask to pull off something between charming & sinister & his speech to Capote about the murders was the most powerful scene in the film.

Would definitely recommend reading the book first though.

I just saw Restless on a recommendation from a friend. I can see why he thought of me. It’s hard to believe this film is only set over the course of one week, when I had it twice, the first time for 4 months and the second time for 6.

I actually want to recommend the film to my local council people so they might have an idea of what they were ignoring.

It will be a sad day when I've seen all his films, but re-watching is of course part of the marvel. All were re-watches except for City of Women and how bedazzling it was.

I learned a lot about the history of Monopoly in one scene. All great analogies against religion

Fair to middling, not bad, not amazing. Found out after watching that both of the actresses were ex-Mormons, so that gave some extra ‘oomph’

Just giving an overriding thought of mine: I find it very subtly queer-coded; the online descriptions and trailers don't do it justice.
Androgynously styled Enya in '85, composer cast before the director, does though. .

This was the first solo project Enya did
(composing, not acting, though David Puttnam who found Enya, said that the character Jenny reminded him of Enya, and she relates too).

I found a dumb 80s teen comedy I’d never seen before on Amazon Prime.

Secret Admirer (1985) starring C Thomas Howell, Lori Loughlin, Kelly Preston, Dee Wallace, Fred Ward and a very young Corey Haim.

It was rather fun and better than it had any right to be. Probably elevated by the decent cast.
