That's JUST the BIT I MEAN. I forgot it comes in at the beginning as well. In the single version IT HARDLY STOPS :disco:

I'm UNCLEAR as to why any option other than TEN was included in this poll

It hasn't tired a SINGLE BIT in all the NINE HUNDRED YEARS I've been listening to it. I am enjoying the second verse even more after yesterday's snippet that it was the bit Pete absolutely LOATHED whenever he was COERCED into actually performing it :D

Well QUITE on BOTH COUNTS! It's simply THRILLTASTIC

On the rare occasions that everyone was out of the house in the MID 1980s and I got the chance to have the PARLOUR to myself I invariably used to SLAP THE MURDER MIX on the HI-FI. And have a wank. But not NECESSARILY SIMULTANEOUSLY.

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH-BLAH-BLAH-BLAH-BLAH-BLAH
BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH-BLAH-BLAH-BLAH-BLAH-BLAH
BLAH
BLAAAH!

*that superspeedy synth bit comes in for the only bar in the whole mix*

YES :disco:

Having said all of this, in the last 24 hours, I've hammered BOTH versions and I can't decide now whether I like the "MURDER MIX" or the "PERFORMANCE MIX" better- cause the latter's POPPERS RUSH into the SYNTHESIZER bit is QUITE THE THING :disco:

I've just read through the list so far and I don't know why they would have a hissy fit about poor old Pete! The only thing that made me  was BIEBER

I think it's just because they all thought they knew what was going to be in the top five but they were WRONG

What's the problem? It is a fantastic song. However, Old Town Road at #19 :zombie:

The other thing I liked about that article apart from the 36-HOUR COCAINE-FUELLED MIXING SESSION :disco: was the debt owed by I HEARD A RUMOUR by BANANARAMA to THIS

It's ABOUT the right position I'd say, dependent on what comes ahead of it.

VOGUE was TOO LOW.

Listening to the Murder Mix of ‘You Spin Me Round’ pretty much ON REPEAT today and am very excited indeed to discover that it’s in F# minor: “A gloomy key - it tugs at passion as a dog biting a dress. Resentment and discontent are its language.” :disco::D:disco:!

It's an obvious 10 or above, although it's a shame you never hear any of their other hits anymore - they really did have a run of complete bangers!

It was always a bit odd they never managed another Top 10, especially off the back of this. Maybe ‘In Too Deep’ would have been a better follow up instead of being single three.

A lot has to be put down to the record company as well- they famously didn't get on with Dead or Alive and made some odd decisions (Pete claims they didn't press enough copies of certain singles to stop them being proper hits here and they apparently hated Something In My House, didn't want to release it and that meant it was released in the New Year of 87, though it obviously should have come out at Hallowe'en.

But yes, probably Pete too.

Yes, now I remember something about Brand New Lover not having had enough copies pressed. It certainly sounds like it should have done better than #31.

To be fair, I also love Brand New Lover...

...but it's no Something In My House.

BUT THEN WHAT IS? :disco:

Whatever the truth, it does seem a strange peak, considering how relatively well it did in the US, the fact it was a lead single and SAW were in their ascendancy...

I've tried with their other but they're just not it.

Something is OK, but they fairly deserving of one hit wonder status (albeit one of the alliance time greats).

Oh I don't think that's fair- and they certainly WEREN'T one hit wonders. Also, there is so much to love, especially when you dig a bit deeper:

:disco:

I'd agree nothing "tops" You Spin Me Round (though I prefer Something In My House JUST...), though. But then it is one of the greatest records of all time, let's face it.

Yes it does ring a bell. I know there were various tales of record company issues on the SAW podcast.

My Heart Goes Bang is my pick of the other three Youthquake singles. Both Brand New Lover and Something In My House are 10s for me.

NUMBER ONE IN JAPAN FOR 17 WEEKS :D
