Tori Amos - In Times of Dragons (New album) (4 Viewers)

Just listened to Black is the New Black. Sonically, it could easily fit on the album. Just not sure if it would fit with the overall story though.

It's just ALL GOOD which is pretty impressive for a 17 track album. Even when she's at her most noodly you're very IN IT. This really is her best in a long long time. Since Scarlet probably.

It really is. It's so, so strong throughout. Even the bonus song is actually gorgeous. She really delivered.

I am especially loving the references to the other songs, the sense of all these strands coming together - stronger together one might say. Is it even a surprise to say Angelshark is another gem?

This 2nd half is absolutely packed. Did not expect this at all. Blue Lotus another one. And unfortunately I have allowed myself to see some opinions on the internet and expect big things for the closer. Love Stronger Together. Just going to marinate my imagination with it. It really tugs away at me this one.

more of the album added to the setlist last night in Frankfurt

god I love that shit eating grin she gives the audience sometimes :D

I’ll be in Wales this weekend, which has randomly become my favourite place to take long walks listening to Tori Amos albums. Excited by this fortuitous timing!

So I was planning to debut this for my walk today, but the sun was shining in Llanidloes and The Beekeeper was just calling to me. :disco:

I hadn't. Totally swooning for this era of Tori. I haven't been this in awe of her since To Venus and Back. God was I just in a coma for that album (I still never want Datura to stop when I have it on).

"Swooning" is right. I am in love with this album. I listened to it all the way through twice earlier and it was sheer bliss.

do we know if black is the new black? I would like a song to answer that definitively.

Blue Lotus is emerging as one of my favourites. It’s a stunning song, but the use of the harpsichord takes it to another level.

Same - the second half of the album is stronger than the first overall for me. But it's all very strong indeed.

Ocean to Ocean was midweek #12 and Native Invaders was midweek #9 so I'm saying YES IT IS.

Clinging into a top 10 seems unrealistic but a top 20 after Ocean to Ocean faltered would be great.

I'm not loving that jacket for her on the cover, it makes her look like she has a beer gut.

I've made myself 3 Tori playlists tonight. Can't believe I've never sought out the studio version of Sugar - that song has been with me for years thanks to Venus disc 2.

I haven't listened properly yet, but I do have a bit of a problem with some of the lyrics. I just find them a bit... trite? On the nose? Part of Tori's appeal for me has been about deciphering the lyrics and her fantasical imagery.
