I had no idea where to put this thread to be honest. Gayers? Classics? Alternative? Toilet?

All I know is that since I picked up the first two Bat Out Of Hell albums (I seriously doubt I need anything else, truth be told) I cannot get enough.

I'm particularly enamoured of 'Life Is A Lemon And I Want My Money Back' which is even more ludicrous than the title suggests.

What about your childhood?
IT'S DEFECTIVE!
It's dead and buried in the past

What about your future?
IT'S DEFECTIVE!
And you can shove it up your ass!

Alrighty then!

And as previously covered in a recent morning thread, 'Dead Ringer For Love' with Cher is just the BEST THING EVER.

VoR, are you okay?

I mean - FIRST TINE TURNER NOW THIS?

Is it the appreciation of MALE VOX or just the slightly loomer-esque tone of that post? :D

VOR right on the mark, I love a bit of Meat Loaf - best things is "objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are".

The 3 minute monologue in which he attempts to bludgeon his parents to death with an electric guitar in the name of ROCK N ROLL is certainly a highlight... :D

I LOVE Meatloaf.

This is the best music video of all time.

I've only got the first Bat Out Of Hell as none of the subsequent singles appeal much at all.

But PRAISE JESUS, "Dead Ringer" is utterly INSANELY good.

I'm still utterly DAMP for a Glee version

Baby baby
BABY BABY

*collapse*

The entire Meatloaf catalogue is RIPE for an epic Lea Michele vocal :disco:

It would be this season's Run Joey Run

Dead Ringer would be SO amazing on Glee...

Rock n roll n brew, rock n roll n brew... they don't mean a thing when I compare em next to you. :disco:

If one were being pedantic this thread should be called The utterly ridiculous music of Jim Steinman. You only need listen to Meat's other work and 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' to hear who's really in the engine room. Great stuff though.

I found out my drunken Northern Irish friend is HIGHLY PARTIAL to "Dead Ringer For Love" a little while ago. It make me EVER SO SLIGHTLY more pleased to be living with her this year.

As I mentioned in the other thread...

I'm looking for ANONYMOUS and FLEETING SATISFACTION
And I want to tell my Daddy that I'll be MISSING in ACTION

If that isn't a Lea Michele/Jonathan Groff duet made in "RIPPING THE VERY FABRIC OF SPACE AND TIME WITH ITS AMAZINGNESS" heaven, I don't know WHAT IS

Oh I love this song. His last really good single though - good old smelly Di Warren.

I feel like such an OAP with people making constant references to Glee :( The name Lea Michele means just about as much to me as the specifics of Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity.
So you're not falling into either the Show Queen or Young Teen categories then Andricicle, both of whom independently hold dear Lea up as an object of veneration?

Here she is with the aforementioned (and oh so sexy) gay-who-can-play-straight Jonathan Groff in über Broadway hit/glittering West End flop Spring Awakening, just before she gets her baps out :disco:

I've become a recent Meat Loaf convert. I always loved "Dead Ringer For Love" because, as VoR says in the opening post, it's ABOUT THE BEST THING EVER and is just so ridiculous, camp and FUN and, let's face it, you could get away with loving CHER rather than him, but apart from that and a vague acceptance that "Bat Out Of Hell" is not a bad song to HUM ALONG TO, I've always actively disliked him.

Until about a year ago when for some reason I picked up the "Bat Out Of Hell" album for a quid in a charity shop, played it once, forgot about it and for some reason, and I can't quite remember why, about a month ago played it, loved it, have hammered it and since have grabbed a few other albums and love them all too. It's basically Steinman rather than Meatloaf- his Bonnie Tyler and Celine tracks are just as tremendous, and in the magic world of charity shop co-incidences, I found Steinman's solo album "Bad for Good" on vinyl on Monday (which was basically intended as the follow up to "Bat Out Of Hell" with Meatloaf on it but got shelved for him as Meatloaf had vocal nodules or something) and it's REALLY GOOD in the same ridiculous, over the top, operatic rock kind of way.

OH MY GOD AM I GETTING OLD?

Jim Steinman involving numbers it is OK to like ACCORDING TO THE GOSPEL OF DONNA

1. This Corrosion - The Sisters Of Mercy
2. Total Eclipse Of The Heart
3. Dead Ringer For Love AT A PUSH

THAT IS ALL

I'm being entirely serious, but have you forgotten "Holding Out For A Hero"? Cause SURELY something that UTTERLY DEMENTED and HIGH CAMP is nothing short of a MODERN MIRACLE

How can anyone deny the towering ridiculousness of 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now'? (Celine version)

*melodramatically brushes hair in ancient castle*

PHEW! I did wonder for a minute. What a SONG! What a WOMAN! (Even though she's a cunt)

LATE at night
I TOSS!
And
I TURN!
And I DREAM of WHAT I NEED

:disco:

I always thought it should have been a Tina Turner single.

And yes, "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" is PHENOMENAL, but I can't imagine Donna being a PARTICULAR FAN. Indeed, I had an OVERSUNG CELINE HALF HOUR in the car yesterday and it was nothing short of a JOY.

Sadly I can't seem to find it now, but last year I watched an absolutely incredible video on Youtube of him doing Bat Out Of Hell on one of his recent tours. They had thrown absolutely everything they could (including but not limited to: backing vocalists, dancers, acrobats, pyrotechnics, inflatable monsters and bikers riding around on Harley Davidsons) on stage to try and distract the audience from the fact he can't sing a single note of the song these days :(

Bonnie is a fucking RUDE CUNT. She was at a meet and greet in Malmö and she GRIMACED when I said Hi Bonnie to her. I never got that kind of behaviour from EMMELIE DE FOREST

My boss went to see his farewell tour and said it really was atrocious from start to finish. POOR MEAT. Mariah, this is your future...

Bonnie's a STAR :disco:

DONNA WARNED YOU

Bonnie is not a "star" she's a FUCKING ENTITLED CUNT who almost bankrupted my friend's Dad in the 80s when she was at the height of her fame for not paying for any work he did on her LUXURIOUS HOUSE IN THE MUMBLES, despite them being GOOD FRIENDS.

it's ok, I was just happy to wheel out that story.

AGAIN :D

I found him strangely hot in the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Hi just checking in as a Meat Loaf SUPERFAN, I'll be back later to rave about his many classics

We took a long drive over the weekend and listened to Meat Loaf nearly all the way. This one has been stuck in my head since, it's so good! Very much of his OUEVRE, a shame it wasn't a hit in 2003 but the album did pretty well.

omg at the BONNIE TYLER EVIL stories coming out a month after her death :disco: and all thanks to MEAT LOAF from BEYOND THE GRAVE! (and @Iguana)
