I met a Slovenian fella who was right into Philomena Cunk.

Which blew my tits off
 
Philomena Cunk is all over YouTube with (usually American) reaction videos.

She seems to be something that I assumed would be very much a British thing, but seemingly has a lot of appeal outside the UK.
 
I think she's quite visual. There's almost something Mr Bean in her physical comedy, that appeals across languages. Her facial expressions alone are very very funny.
 
Yes, I didn't think it would necessarily translate, but I guess being deadpan, monotone and at times downright rude is hardly uniquely British.

Is that on par for the usual Celebrity Masterchef? The figures look quite low. I haven’t watched any yet but plan to catch up later on this week.
 
I have never watched Ludwig, and am not sure it is my cup of tea. Is it a comedy? I’m assuming so with David Mitchell at the helm.
 
Masterchef, The Voice and Dragons den figures all look underwhelming.

It's more of a comedy-drama to be fair. It has elements of Murder, She Wrote and Midsomer Murders and similar 'light' in tone murder mystery series.
 
I watched Midsomar once and hated it. This is better, glossier, quirkier and funnier
 
I wouldn't compare it to Midsomer Murders personally. Tonally they are very different.

Maybe worth giving it a go then. I am on Vigil and Trigger Point at the moment. I generally prefer my dramas to be a bit more GRITTY, rather than lighthearted and funny.
 
I loved the first series, but haven't started the second yet. I may wait until it's all available.
 
With Ludwig back now, and Celebrity Traitors, GBBO and SCD starting later this month, at least we'll see decent figures at the top of the viewing figures.

Celebrity Traitors is going to be MASSIVE again. I can’t wait.
 
Ludwig was compared to Jonathan Creek so I watched ep 1 last year and was APPALLED that Jonathan Creek's good name was being besmirched in such a way. I found it really mid.
 
I see the Jonathan Creek comparison more, and I loved that, at least in the Musty Minge era.
 
The one thing I will say about Ludwig is that I thought Anna Maxwell-Martin was criminally underused in the first series, and I hope they have given her more in this series.

I agree she did seem to be left sitting at home quite often in the first run, but she is featured more in the second series so far.

Still good numbers but looking at previous threads pretty significant drops for both Vigil and Trigger Point from the last series: 6m for Vigil in December 2023 and 5.1m for Trigger Point in October 2025. That's a very quick return for Trigger Point by current drama standards actually.
 
Yes, I thought both were a little underwhelming. I think increasingly people are choosing to boxset when all episodes have dropped though, so I think it'll do very well when we get the 28 day figures.

Unfortunately we don't have them for series 2, as it was during the period when BARB didn't freely publish them.

The Gentlemen got 3.059m for the first episode, 2.553m for the second, but episodes three to eight all didn't chart (so below 2.187m), so I wouldn't feel confident calculating an average. I imagine all may well feature in the 28 day stats, though.

I've not watched either as we've subscribed to Apple for a couple of months and are currently trying to rinse that before cancelling. So pretty much any other drama serial not on Apple won't get a look in before then.
