Hayden Panettiere DEAD

Sounds like she had a tough life. I only really knew her from Nashville which she was brilliant in. Her character being more autobiographical than I appreciated at the time. RIP. :(

I first remember her from playing Ally McBeal’s daughter, then going on to Heroes. But my enduring memory was her being very fun on the Graham Norton Show, being pulled up to dance with Pharrell Williams.

And of course the underrated character of Kirby in the Scream films.

I only really saw her in the Scream films and in Nashville.

I don't think she was underrated, Kirby was a huge fan favourite.

So sad. Loved the first season or two of Heroes, she was definitely a highlight of it.

RIP

I’m not clued up on Scream fandom. I just always assumed the legacy sequels weren’t well thought of.

4 has been reappraised in recent years because it was Wes Craven's last film, and 5 and 6 have their fans, too. 7 I'm not so sure.

Oh no, that's incredibly sad.

I remember really liking her in Heroes, and bopping to this back in the day:

I know her and her mom had a complicated relationship but this is just heartbreaking.

What a lovely thing to do: greying out the children who are now dead.

I don't know if I want to click on the link in the first post. I never knew her story, but on screen I of course made assumptions that she had a great life as her presence was so robust and beaming with an undeniable blonde bombshell beauty. I know her best from Nashville.

Wow that’s crazy! I loved her in everything I had seen her in.

Shouts outs to Telescope and THAT performance in Scream 4 doing the pop quiz.

her brother dying 3 years ago, an ongoing strained relationship with her parents and substance issues for parts of her life sounds like a pretty rough combination of things to be dealing with. poor woman.

I’m actually quite shook by this, despite not being a huge follower. Her comeback in Scream (6?) was such a fabulous, full circle moment, and obviously the big Heroes/Nashville roles meant she always seemed there despite not being a lot recently due to her troubles that she spoke openly about.

Such a shame :(

I don’t think they were as such, but outside the main three characters she was probably the most known, constantly rumoured to be coming back, and best thought of out of anyone in the whole franchise. Thank god she did at least once.

Somehow I totally missed out on the Nashville wave, it was pretty much the Yellowstone of its time in terms of popularity, right? Or

Actually, I'm editing my comment about the mom. Maybe the quote is a little out of context and lord knows the grief she'll be experiencing.

lovely tribute from the creator of Heroes

Hayden and I didn’t have too much contact after “Heroes” ended in 2010. A few years later, however, when I inquired with her agent about her availability for another project, Hayden called immediately and teasingly admonished me. “You don’t have to call my agent. Don’t be Hollywood about it. Just pick up the phone and call me,” she insisted.

As a showrunner, I have come to appreciate how rare it is to cross paths with a talent like Hayden’s. But more importantly, I will remember her as a kind and gentle person who was always a joy and an inspiration to work with.
