We're both very excited to book a fairly last minute holiday. A genuinely deserved week on a beach for Mr Ag and well I'll enjoy it too.
 
Friday woke up to a frazzed laptop screen and an unwanted cost. Having surveyed the options, it's bye bye MacBook Air era and hello! MacBook Neo.
 
My laptop is 11 years old and has a replaced screen and a confusing replacement Eastern European keyboard. Are you spotting a theme here?

I'd go for the Air over the Neo for the M chip personally but then I'm the sort of idiot who buys a new MacBook Pro to go on moopy.
 
Oh yeah theyre fucking absurd and by luck I ordered mine the day Apple said they needed to hike the price. But my last one lasted 7 years and I was still able to edit photos and run Ableton on it so they do average out.

Oh it shouldn't be 1k more for an Air over a Neo surely? I thought the Airs were maybe a few hundred more expensive?

I just bought a 14" M5 MacBook Pro last week(which I can't really afford). I am such a SLUT for the screens and the speakers are bloody amazing on the Pros. It was €1529 on evil Amazon, so not a bad deal really.

I think Neo will be just fine for you though. Apparently they're extremely capable machines!

It kind of is - I wanted 1T of storage - Apple are always arsey about storage prices - today I've had to basically flatten 6 years of using a Airbook with 1T storage into a Neo with 500ishGb - although to be fair there was a lot of old music files from Logic Pro and such which were gigantic and I don't even remember making so, it took a few hours but was fine - but yeah - its night and day price wise - it's at least double the cost.
 
And fun fact - it's both cheaper and quicker to get one from either Amazon or Argos - I walked down to get mine and was back in an hour - Apple in the Arndale had none till next week and wanted £100 more. That seems a little fucked up to me.
 
Ahh yes, Apple charge the earth for extra storage, and that was even before the memory shortage crap we're enduring nowadays. Amazon or Argos(we don't have any in Ireland anymore) are definitely preferable and often cheaper indeed. What colour Neo did you get?
 
Indigo. But I feel they really need to go back to the iMac era re their colour offers - although I dare say they have Market Researched it to dust and blah blah - but - I mean, at some point, don't they need to at least need to pretend to be relevant and care about R&D again?
 
This one, which is now set up - cost me the same as one I bought 20 years ago, and it's more powerful - I always end up buying whatever their basic offering is but it had got that even that was stupid. I'm not a gamer, I don't need an especially powerful chip.
 
I had a pang of anxiety this morning when I realised that I'm going to have to start to decide whether I need to be wearing long sleeves or not to leave the house.
 
Am I right in thinking Autumn/Winter is likely not going to be THAT COLD due to the El Niño or something?
