AI content on moopy - do we need or want to adopt a community policy/approach?

the AI-ification of moopy

Because it isn't just some harmless nonsense.

There is an impact of using GenAI on the environment. And GenAI content is based on theft.

No one is banning it, but we can certainly discourage it.

The first post talks about a forum where AI is banned. So “no one is banning it” is not really how this thread started. Fair enough if that’s moopy’s take - is that moopy’s take?

Also is everyone going to stop using ChatGPT and quit their jobs because their company uses AI tools, or is it just moopy we’re scapegoating today?

Just checking

Pretty sure it sounds like people are past trying to make Moopy AI-free, and just want it labeled for their own preference. It costs nothing to do that.

No one is asking for AI to be banned in Moopy. We are discussing a policy about responsible AI. Derailing the conversation by making fun of it is not elevating the discourse and doesn’t make you any more clever than the rest of us.

Not being facetious, but I don't know the difference between responsible and irresponsible use.

what is this false equivalence? nobody can dictate what people do in their personal or professional lives away from moopy. i would've thought that goes without saying. the topic is about what happens on Moopy and whether we as a collective are inclined or not to set some boundaries. nothing anyone needs to get riled up over. so I don't get what you're going for here, or why your tone is so... oddly pointed.

Don’t worry, Moopy will write rules for you and mock / ostracise you if you break them, even if by accident. And if you disagree they’ll gaslight you for getting “riled up” when you’re just pointing out a different opinion

My how we’ve evolved :D

something tells me you've never been ostracised or gaslit. as ever - block me or make a thread where you can talk shit about me to your heart's content, but if you could not derail this one with your vitriol that would be just lovely.

Also, I feel like we are about 1 millimetre away from people being called cunts in this thread. So that’s always something to look forwards to.

I'm not advocating for an AI ban but there was a long time that we actively blocked people from posting links to the Daily Mail and The Sun so it's not like we're pulling the concept of ETHICAL POLICIES out of our arse.

Oh they still block links to the Daily Mail I think

Yeah not sure why OMF has taken such a hardline approach about this blatant infringement on his human rights 😂

“Riled up”

“Vitriol”

“Hard line”

The drama of it all! :D

apologies for having an opposing opinion, let’s all just AGREE ON EVERYTHING AND NEVER DISCUSS ANYTHING EVER!

I personally would like to see more AI being used on Moopy. Here are my reasons why:

1. AI can design new antibiotics and cure diseases. For example, there are some nasty girls on this hellsite who could do with having their mouths permanently glued SHUT (Outsynk, Penelope, Pingu) and with the use of AI I believe we can fast-forward this important technology.

2. AI is incredibly efficient and can wipe out mundane tasks. For example, I’m so fed up of having to read whole threads of Jark and funky having at it like two washerwomen. With AI, I can get a summary statement of their points of view and decide much more quickly who I’m backing this time.

3. AI is unstable and can turn on its owners. For example, who here would pay to see Zengiraffe finally get his comeuppance by being fired and
replaced by an anonymous chatbot? I for one welcome our new digital overlords - may they take down this brutal human regime so that narry another thorn can grow.

Why are you so evil?

You want more artificial intelligence on Moopy to cure diseases, summarize long arguments, and shake up the user base.

Your Three Reasons
    • Medical Breakthroughs: You see AI as a fast track for designing new treatments, even if you humorously picture it silencing specific forum users like Outsynk, Penelope, and Pingu.
    • Saving Time: You prefer an AI summary over reading through long arguments between Jark and funky.
    • Digital Chaos: You welcome an AI takeover if it means users like Zengiraffe get replaced by a chatbot and the current forum dynamics get disrupted.

If you want to plan this digital shift, tell me:
  • Which AI tool should moderate or summarize Moopy first?
  • What specific formatting style do you want for reading forum arguments?

Anyway, I asked AI and IT says:

“A sensible middle ground for a forum is clear labeling or dedicated sub-threads so people who want to avoid synthetic media can easily scroll past it while others keep experimenting.”

And I understand labelling and tagging has often gone well on this site.

If we don't adopt AI, how are we going to generate more shareholder value

And I really feel I can outsource a lot of my posts about Lady Gaga and Mariah Carey to an LLM at this point

This poll is a masterclass in biased referenda questions, but SO FAR it's not really working.

It's not that it doesn't BOTHER me, it's that I don't think there needs to be a policy
I think I'm similar. It's good we're talking about it. And I'll tell you, now that I know some people really hate it, I'm happy to stop posting any of it because it means so little to me.

But titling the poll "AI-ification of moopy" is just a little too ALARMIST for me. Moopy is a small community. If something can be solved through informal or voluntary methods, it'll work much better. The community-policing AI labels are a really good idea imo.
