Take it or leave it
Unfairly half-remembered as the make-up #1 for Take On Me not making it. I think it’s a melodramatic masterpiece.

It’s fucking fantastic. The lyrics are a Meisterwerk of existentialist angst and misery of the mind. In fact I was very excited to find the 12” in Oxfam the other week - I particularly like the way that it somewhat inappropriately sounds like So Macho at the beginning

Can you imagine anyone releasing something of this lyrical nature as a single these days? Furious record companies would scream that it’s far too miserable BUT WE’LL RELEASE IT IF YOU GET YOUR CUNT OUT ON TIKTOK

This came to my ever-whirring mind only recently. So fabulously disrespectful along the lines of that thrilling A.D.A.M. feat. Amy cover of ‘Zombie’

Looking at those scores racking up, this should VERY OBVIOUSLY have a starring role in the next season of Stranger Things
