This remains one of my fave M albums AND it’s what I’m usually playing while I clean house
 
I mean I even had a Back In Business Tour '91 setlist lined up for her and everything as an 11 year old gay boy
 
There were plans to release it as a single that were (thankfully) scrapped....
 
SOONER OR LATER should have ben a sangle though. Probably as a double A-side actually with Hanky Panky.
 
Me too but we were still in the imperial era then and whilst Hanky Panky was a misstep it still was a hit thanks to the hype factor. I don't think a 1-2 punch with another 'novelty' type release would have been wise commercially.
 
It's a good rendition but if anything it made me want to go back and play the original.
Kelly may have more impressive pipes than Midge but she's no Breathless Mahoney.

Hadn't it been her own favourite studio album up to a certain point in her career (that being Ray Of Light). However, my 13 year old self was definitely puzzled listening to it for the first time on the back of Vogue. Still, a very Madonna album and quite essential to her path. Pretending she moved from Like A Prayer to Erotica misses a lot of substance, especially when those 3 years in between marked her ultimate imperial phase.
