Stephanie Cole DEAD

I was going to say, I think for a certain generation Waiting For God was very much her calling card.

I met her once. Well, shared a table with her. She trained at the Bristol Old Vic and was a passionate supporter for many years. My friend was in stage management there in the 90s and 00s and Stephanie seemed to be there rather a lot at lots of press and gala nights.

Waiting For God was brilliant when I was about 13. No idea if it's aged well.

She was on a live Inside No.9 just a few years ago which I thought was pretty good going for a woman of her age.

I first remember her in Tenko, which was full of brilliant female performances, but she definitely stood out - it was probably her breakthrough role.

I feel bad for having dismissed Waiting for God when I was younger. I ignorantly presumed it was a feeble comedy for crusties, but now that I'm in my DOTAGE, I bet I'll love it!

Again I LOVED her in Waiting For God, as well as Open All Hours and of course Corrie as Roy Croppers mother.

Fabulous character actress.
