The Democrats: The Wilderness Years

rather O/T but one thing I can't understand about the two party system in the US is that the party not in government doesn't have a leader. like, the Dems have gone two years now without having a figure to mobilise them, outline a vision or set direction for the party. so they're effectively relying on Trump and the GOP being despised to take back either the house or the senate in the midterms.

and if they do or they don't, they'll still need to choose someone to be their candidate who'll have, like, one year to make a case to the public. it feels bizarre. what is the reason for it and do our US hunties think it's logical? or harmful?
