Danceteria (After Hours Charli XCX)

Yeah it feels a bit cringe. I’m more than happy to be proven wrong though

This is how we start the party
There's Troye Sivan and George from the 1975
Julia Fox and George from the 1975
Everyone came from the 1975
1975 to the beat
There's Addison Rae and a guy named George from the 1975
See these guys doing Tik Toks

Sounds like a MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT over the original.

Oh it sounds fine. I’m glad they’re at least continuing the campaign rather than just being happy with the results and leaving it.

I have a feeling she will wheel out Sabrina, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan at the VMAs
+ dancers
Recreate the video of BYL and transition into Danceteria
Musically will be a megamix of BYL/Danceteria feat Afterhours remix + elements of Music to reference Troyes new song

So yeah sounds like a hot mess but i expect it will be fabulous

What a power move if it was just a parade of pop princesses all dressed up as her various eras as she mimes Danceteria (save for yelling "Debi Mazar").

Waiting to bundle them altogether once pre sale for the inevitable 7" vinyl goes live feels too high of a risk... Surely they expect lower numbers than the Kylie single, unless Charli's fanbase is also unhinged, no?

Yep it's fine in a "I'll listen to this precisely 3 times and probably never again" kind of way.

Could have been so much worse!

Yeah it's fun, nothing more, nothing less. It's third on the UK NMF playlist so that might give it some traction.

It certainly reaffirms how good the original is. It's a so-so reprise and the "put a demo on myspace" walkthrough hardly tops Debi Mazar abandoning the cloakroom to dance with Madge.

It's weird because my first thoughts when this came out (after HIDE THE COCAINE) were how Charliesque this song is but she really didn't manage to work it out on the remix this time.

Unlike the Kylie one, this is entirely redundant. There’s just no reason I would even consider playing this over the original.

"this new place has a lot of new things - different DJs, flavoured cocaine" :eyes: right...

this is purely bait for the gay clubs who need a different version of the song to play sometimes. it's fine.

they also used a worse Madonna vocal take on various bits, notably the "Puerto Rican boys, they make me crazy" bit which is so FLAT now.
