NoI have read this 3 times and it still doesn’t make sense Ed hun. Are you inebriated?
though I admit it got better as it went on.Nothough I admit it got better as it went on.
I'm with FF though, Johannes was the weak link (surprisingly, I thought it would be Josh).
Well in truth I have no issue with Tess (but I know many here do). So I really meant BOTH.I just didn’t get the SAFE PAIRS OF HANDS then the shade to Tess. Was it a safe pair of hands in Claudia you meant?
Joh was actually ok! He got better as the night went on.I haven’t watched it yet, but I still think Josh Widdecombe is a weird choice. He’s not a natural presenter and aside from riffing off people on The Last Leg (which itself has been unfunny and repetitive for years), he has no real presenting experience.
I know obvious choices like Bradley Walsh seem tired, but Strictly does need that type of comedian/presenter, who can relax with a quick-witted rapport with the judges and contestants.
4.8 million viewers in the overnights.
Was my beauty Lawrence any good
That's 1.4m down on the first live show last year.4.8 million viewers in the overnights.
That's 1.4m down on the first live show last year.
And as I said before, for the last few years, the first live show has ended up (after 7 days) around the million mark higher than the launch show.
It usually holds well, yes.Does Strictly not tend to hold its viewers throughout the season usually though?
It is a bit of a drop but it should easily still top the ratings chart when it appears. I am seeing calls for it to be RESTED like the X Factor but think X Factor dropped to a lot lower depths than that figure before it was put out of its misery.
This was the top of the chart for the week of the first Strictly live show last year, with 7 day consolidation. I suspect it will be a lot closer this year - and possibly end up in GBBO's favour.I'm not sure it will top the ratings chart though, considering it's now facing GBBO - and the reactions to the new presenter there seems to be a lot more favourable.
Probably a combination of this with the budget cuts leading to a general lacklustre lineup of celebrities too. I know smaller names tend to become well known as a result of their participation, but clearly at the beginning you do need at least half the lineup to be recognisable people.Have people switched off because of the new presenters??
It had been declining for a few years anyway (the live show I compared it to above was already a series low), so who knows?
Whenever there is change people tend to struggle with it at first before things settle, and I suspect the demographic it squarely appeals to will struggle more than most.
I'm interested to see the BBC holds its nerve with the line up and how they use them. I've not watched any of it yet, but of the varying things I've read online today, a general consensus would seem to be Emma is fine and slotted nearly into place, but the two Js need some settling in or mixing up.
Justin Lee Collins (remember him?) agreesI would imagine Emma would be a great fit for the programme. She is a GREAT presenter on everything I have watched her on previously.
I never switched onHave people switched off because of the new presenters??

That's the main reason I haven't watched it. It feels like far too big a commitment to watch live. The sheer LENGTH of last night's show already makes me feel exhausted for next week (wine will help).
I can’t believe this wasn’t picked up in rehearsal. It’s making him look (even more) terrible. They really need to make the call to stop having Johannes trot out that 'you can vote next week' line while the couples are coming upstairs. He is drowned out every time.
