He is so desperate to create a legacy for himself, like all great despots. The only thing that matters is that people remember you. He’d rather build an arch than figure out healthcare. Also because building an arch is easy.

It’s a shame he won’t be around to see how much he will actually be the butt of the joke for however long we’re all still on this planet.

Someone played “Send In The Clowns” over the speakers at a press pool for a US & Denmark meeting while they were waiting for Trump and Rubio to come out :D

So Christa Pike survived two loads of lethal injections for a murder she committed in 1996 aged 18.

She's now on life saving care in hospital, I guess with the aim of bringing her back to consciousness, just to try to kill her again. It's pure torture.

It’s the second botched execution in Tennessee this year apparently. Im not against her receiving the death penalty given the crime and laws in Tennessee but now it’s become a whole other 8th Amendment issue.

You're pro-death penalty? Sorry, I don't think I can read that any other way.

I don’t have any moral opposition to it in a case like this, but I think it’s a waste of resources and appeals it involves (for good reason)

Along with her friend, 18-year-old Shadolla Peterson, Christa Pike planned to lure Slemmer to an isolated, abandoned steam plant near the University of Tennessee campus.

On January 12, 1995, Pike, Shipp, Peterson, and Slemmer signed out of the dormitory and went to the woods, where Slemmer was told they wanted to make peace by offering her some marijuana. Upon arrival at the secluded location, Slemmer was attacked by Pike and Shipp while Peterson acted as lookout. According to court testimony, for the next 30 minutes, Slemmer was taunted, beaten, and slashed. Shipp used a box cutter to carve a pentagram into her chest while she was still alive. Finally, Pike smashed Slemmer's skull with a large chunk of asphalt, killing her. Pike kept a piece of Slemmer's skull. Pike began to show off the piece of skull around the school, and the three were arrested within 36 hours.
not much sympathy for this particular violation of her right to die peacefully or whatever people are saying. she should probably die painfully.

Don’t forget the attempted murder with a shoelace while in prison, and escape as well. :bruised:

Oh no she tried to escape, then she should definitely be killed. In Germany escaping from jail is considered a natural reaction and not punished (I believe, that might just be Internet lore). Anyway...

I'm against the death penalty in all circumstances. Let them rot in jail. I concede what she did was repugnant, but it's worth noting that her co-conspirator, has life in jail because he was a year younger. It, at the very least highlights the legal arbitrariness of a justice system that decides who lives and who dies. Don't get me started on states rights.

Regardless of how heinous a crime someone committed the death penalty is abhorrent.

Well she was already sentenced the death penalty after striking the victim with asphalt and carving her while alive and keeping her skull as a keepsake. The other stuff just goes to show she continues to be irredeemable trash. Not an advocation for the death penalty, my only point was is that I don’t have any moral opposition to someone like her receiving it

Guys let’s not be quick to judge views on capital punishment given how moopy likes to wish death on some very famous people every single day

And I don’t actually think it’s jokes most of the time…

I don’t believe in the death penalty either but I’ve also not had to deal with what some of these relatives of victims go through. Let’s not throw stones at each other when there are actual horrible people out there!

He's just blamed the French school riots/ protests on Muslims trying to take over France.

He's truly lost his fucking mind.

His dementia is far worse than Reagan's in his second term. He's incoherent AND he has a messianic complex. I think I'd prefer the plague to take us all out rather than this pile of shit.

I just need this era to be over. I can’t take much more of this horror show

Insane times. As a number of people have pointed out recently re: The Cornell 7, what we have now is what we get for not punishing rapists and abusers properly.
