Scared of the Dark (Shadows & Secrets Halloween Mix)

Wash your mouth out!

I’d have thought next year with it being the 30th celebrations we would be getting an album and tour, especially as Faye chucked up a picture of her in the studio last week.

So maybe something Halloween related to whet the appetite?

Speculate wildly about what old tat Steps have nabbed for their Halloween related single.

It’s a Scared of the Dark remix :D

I guess makes sense as it always gets a solid October boost so I guess starts bringing them back slowly, but somewhat pointless unless it’s amazing.

They updated a social media photo to the first album cover today as well…

I remember listening to that with the worst hangover of my life when I tried to down an entire bottle of vodka because I was feeling 'sad' and broke some Ikea furniture. I don't know what possessed me to attempt that at a time like that but I'M STILL HERE NOW so maybe they saved me.

It’s just the song with a few spooky sound effects lobbed on, apparently

Is Scared of the Dark REALLY a Halloween staple? Apart from TISCH'S GHOULISH PLAYLIST (2020) (:disco:) I can't say I feel like I hear it particularly more than usual come October.

Here for them attempting it though.
Their Spotify figures don't update frequently (probably because they are pretty low) so the last update on kworb was 14th September, when Scared Of The Dark is their #5 with 18.8m total, and 1929 daily plays.

It does around 2,000 a day throughout the year, but largely due to being on one of the playlists it starts to take off late September. Last year it peaked at around 20k a day over the final week of October and then up to 90k on the day itself, so it certainly, gets traction relative to what it normally does.

I wouldn’t say it a staple though, more just Spotify has it on a list that everyone chucks on for a Halloween party. But may as well lean into it if this is just a way of slowly coming back to the public eye. 2017 saw the 20th anniversary start on NYE so we may get that again?

This is like when they put sleigh bells on The Ketchup Song. It's sort of as creatively desperate as you can get but I'm surprised more people haven't done this sort of thing really.

But if they like sound fx maybe they could do a cover of John Shuttleworth's Incident On Snake Pass for the B side.

Their PALLADIUM perf of this song is also one of my all time faves with dazzling QUEEN FAYE

Still #7 on iTunes.

Means fuck all these days, but I’m surprised it has settled for a day or two in the top ten given it’s simply the original song with some Chat GPT Halloween sounds put on!
