We're ALMOST THERE. so what are your favouites of this year?

I don't think it's been a vintage year overall. I've mostly listened to older stuff - or does this just mean I'm getting old? new albums by Charli and Tove passed me by, and Carly was fine. but there have been about 5 albums I loved and here they are:

01. Olivia Rodrigo - you seem pretty sad...
02. Jorja Smith - What Are the Odds
03. Madonna - Confessions II
04. Nia Archives - Emotional Junglist
05. Ellie Goulding - I Know Too Much

I think I’ve only listened to three new albums this year :zombie: It’s been a very heavy podcast year. Maybe we need a similar thread for high rotation in 2026 of previous years

1. Madonna - Confessions II
2. Nine Inch Nails & Boys Noize - self titled
3. SHINee - Atmos

There’s a few to come out still but I’ve played (and enjoyed) these three most:

‘In Times Of Dragons’ - Tori Amos
‘Same Sun/Same Sky’ - The Darling Buds
‘Confessions II’ - Madonna

Also enjoyed Kim Gordon’s ‘Play Me’ and have been returning to the Robyn and Loreen efforts this week.

Confessions II - Madonna
In Times of Dragons - Tori Amos
Lost Weekend - Phoebe Bridgers
Jenius - Paul Heaton
In A World We Don’t Belong - Sekou
You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love - Olivia Rodrigo
The Boys of Dungeon Lane - Paul McCartney
Nothing’s About To Happen To Me - Mitski
Superbloom - Jessie Ware
Sexistential - Robyn
Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally - Harry Styles
Middle of Nowhere - Kacey Musgraves
The Mountain - Gorillaz
Trying Times - James Blake
Music, Fashion, Film - Charli xcx
Ambiguous Desire - Arlo Parks

Rarely listen to ALBAMS as such these days but here's some stuff...

Alex Banks - Alex Banks presents Propulsive Dance
Alex Banks - Elements EP
Daniel Avery - Tremor
Kane Parsons - Backrooms
Kuve - AMORE DESAMORE
Madonna - Confessions II
mustbejohn - Words to Live by
Mystery Jets - A Hole To See The Sky Through
Now Always Fades - Coalesce
Temples - BLISS
Tove Lo - ESTRUS

These would be my NOMS as of today

Cleo Sol - Gentlewoman
Leon Bridges - Happiness Anytime
Liv East - FUNKSOULSEX
Role Model - Chuck Timely & The Hourglass
Jessie Ware - Superbloom
Paper Kites - If You Go There, I Hope You Find It
Madonna - Confessions II

Phoebe Bridgers - Lost Weekend
Angine De Poitrine - Vol II
Cameron Winter - Live At Carnegie Hall
Olivia Rodrigo - You Have A Pretty Long Title For An Album So Commercially Successful
underscores - U
Charli XCX - Music Fashion Film
spiral staircase - your inner world is deeply uninteresting
Mandy, Indiana - URGH

....and the inevitable slew of albums from 2024-2025 that hit my ears for the first time in 2026 because that always happens.

I think my most listened to albums of this year have been Wallsocket by underscores, Getting Killed by Geese and Heavy Metal by Cameron Winter and they're from 2023, 2025 and 2024. Audrey Hobert and Ninajirachi's albums are both 2025 but the physicals didn't turn up (in the UK at least) until 2026.

If you had made up every single name in that post I would be none the wiser :oi:

I did particularly like that album you recommended “Expensive Nepalese Takeaway” by the Elephant Nuns, but sadly, “Left-Handed Custard Mixer” by Jimmy Jojo and the Dungarees left me a bit cold :(

How did you get on with "My Old Man's A Kraft Cheese Slice" by The Banana Bread Circus Caravan.

Jae Stephens - AUDACITY - Mopsy is missing out on this pop GEM; the first half is bop after bop after bop.
Tinashe - Popstar - such a triumph for dear old She, who's been at it for ages now; it feels correct for her to finally have her flowers
Ravyn Lanae - Blue Island
Tove Lo - Estrus
Madonna - Confessions II
ANOTR - Withness
Ellie Goulding - I Know Too Much
Lykke Li - The Afterparty - omg seeing her live this year for the first time was life-changing
Robyn - Sexistential
Jessie Ware - Superbloom
Gorillaz - The Mountain
Carly Rae Jepsen - Day and Night
Steve Lacy - Oh yeah?

looking forward to Lucky Daye's one

Honestly I preferred their last album “The Lonely Cataract” but of the new stuff, the title track and the hidden bonus track “Dreaming Of A Waitrose BOGOF” are worth going back to
