European Riots

I think this is worth it's own topic.

France is now having weekly "student" protests turned riots. Albania is onto it's sixth day of violent student led protests. It's kicking off in Milan this evening, with protests in Spain, Belgium and Portugal.

These things tend to spread quickly in the internet age. Could it spread? It doesn't feel contained.

To add fuel, they're good news for far right politicians.

The Daily Mail is loving it, things aflame just when we looked like we might get cuddly with Europe. Amazing the longer term damage this will likely do.

Reform clutching their pearls like they didn’t just platform a racist drunk who called for burning down hotels at their own conference!

I'm never a fan of seeing small businesses attacked. Feel free to find the nearest Tesla sales room.

Yeah, this is my thought. All for sticking it to the big man, but it seems to fall outside of that...

Oh yes god forbid we upset the Daily Mail readers and the billionaire class. Why can't we just have nice civilised discussions when people can't afford rent and food?
I think my point is its annoying it gives them fresh talking points - not that they need them I guess.

It's very much what made the London Riots so unpalatable. Go mad, I get it, but if any of you have a point - be selective instead of greedy and cruel.

Although again, like London, it's now older teens running wild. It's the youthful fantasy of complete reckless freedom in motion.

The NEETS stuff is scary biscuits. What are those people doing all day and how are they going to get a foothold on having a future that isn’t just awful?

Realistically, the vast majority of people - even the ever-revolting french! - don't like waking up to find their car torched, their kids' school burnt down, or their town centre looking like it's just been through the blitz.

I'm also not sure it's a particularly effective way to enact change. Surely if it worked, France wouldn't need to do it every three weeks.

I'm not sure whether it working or not is the point. people need to do something when the government is doing nothing for them. riots do humiliate the government, force a conversation and motivate people to go out and vote. ultimately that's a good thing.

In the spirit of people not giving a shit whilst riots go on, cardio waits for no (wo)man
