How did I not even know about this and there’s already a TRAILER?

They had planned Covenant 2 and that was shelved and then they planned Alien 5 with Sigourney and that was shelved, so I guess this is a complete reboot?

I hope it’s somewhat related to the universe - I suppose they could have an isolated story but that feels like a waste.

Obviously I’ll be watching it anyway. Probably my favourite movie franchise of all time.
 
Apparently this is a separate story which takes place between the first and second films.
 
It's a good trailer but once again it gives too much away

The lead looks good... better than dour faced Katherine Waterstone anyway
 
I'm not going to watch that for the avoidance of spoilers, but I'll definitely be seeing this even if does just look like the original with younger people.

I even enjoyed a rewatch of Alien Resurrection recently!

There are good bits, but it's my least favourite of the lot. Sigourney landing that basketball shot for one (apparently done for real on set!) is a moment though. Winona is terrible!
 
I loved the original quadrology - I liked that each film was a different take on the Alien story by a different director.

After that I zoned out - the AvP series was terrible.

I suppose Prometheus did some good to restore the damage done to the franchise but it's a shame Ridley Scott didn't follow through on his plans to further develop the story.
 
The AvP movies are NOT canon and NOT worth watching! I don't even consider them when I'm watching them again as a series. It's the original 4 and the recent 2 and that's it.

I wish we'd had Prometheus/Covenant as a trilogy - despite its flaws and questionable casting, David was an iconic character and deserved another go.
 
I still maintain the biggest error with Covenant, which I actually love, was that they should have swapped Daniels (Waterstone) and Karine (Carmen Ejogo) and had the latter in the Ripley role. Carmen was amazing in the short time she got and would have handled the final third so much better than Waterstone did.

In case anyone missed it, I'm not a fan of Katherine Waterstone :evil: Shit in Fantastic Beasts too.

I went to Alien War when I was 11 and it still haunts me today! There was a point when the marine left me behind shining a torch down a hallway and told me he’d come back for me. Fuck I’ve never been so scared in my life! :D

Anyway this looks pretty good so far! I just hope it has characters we can get behind and isn’t just some teen slasher.

I mean, IN ME NOW and everything, but I hope they have a lot of surprises up their sleeve because the trailer still reveals a bit too much for me. Then again, we don't see much of the actual alien at all, which is good. Everything looks like they're going back to that sparse, claustrophobic, isolated style of the original and I'm definitely here for that.
 
I found this a perfectly good watch, even the absolutely deranged final act involving the Alien-human NAKED MANBABY HYBRID

I didn't really care who lived or died, and I won't remember much about it in a week's time, but there were some great set pieces/tense moments, it did what it said on the tin, and I loved Cailee Spaney and Gus from Industry in particular.

I watched this last night and thought exactly the same thing! Katherine Waterstone was such a drip, I just could not root for her at all.

I didn't like the daft explanation for the aliens existing in the first place, and there are all sorts of daft decisions being made by people you'd suppose would know better. That said, David v Walter was a lot of fun and the fight on top of the lander was a blast. I'd love to see a follow up and have David's story rounded off, but I can't see that happening now.
 
This was so nothing-y. The characters were either boring cunts or vile cunts and the ones that died deserved to.

I did enjoy the 'Get away from her...you bitch' line, delivered with zero gravitas.
 
Awful! Was just a cobbled together AI script of all the other Alien films!
 
It was crap also the weird birth hybrid thing at the end felt like an unnecessary trans metaphor/statement from an unwelcome TETF perspective of this creature hijacking a women’s pregnancy and women only (well an asexual android too on the ship) spaces.
 
Finally got round to watching this. I really enjoyed it, even though the teen-slasher cast just felt VERY out of place for an Alien movie. It feels like every movie now has to be market researched to an inch of its life. They forgot that Alien movies are about blue collar people of all shapes and sizes and ages. Regular people who fall victim to the corporate world as much as the aliens. Anyway I think they did try to factor in the overall tone and I LOVED the links to the wider lore, far more than I expected it to. And some very creative art direction and set pieces. This wasn't a throwaway movie, even if the casting makes it feels that way at the start.

That ALL BEING SAID I loved the main guy in it :D :horny:

I hope we still get Covenant Part 2. Come 'ome Ridley :(
 
Nobody in this thread seems to have picked up on the fact that the
"baby" isn't half human-alien but half engineer-alien? The android referenced the black goo that it found and was using to create a superior human race, and it's the same black goo from Prometheus...]
