ASFM ButterVision: Viewing Gala 1 - TONIGHT 7pm

The pre-cum tears. Shame it's not a Girls Aloud cover. He looks like Noddy in those close-ups, bless him. Not really for me, it will take a lot of filler for this to appear on my scorecard.

Retribution is a little generic for me sadly. Although I'm now paying more attention as I'm imagining it being a Tina Cousins comeback album track.

So pleased to come back to Khadja Nin. This caught my attenshonne when bingeing. Love the 80s sultry gem vibes. Oozing into my senses.

Can't say I'm here for the ersatz sub-Taylor chant pop (Hurst one). Although it's found some momentum. I'm sensing a mid-card pointer. Could be a grower.

If Belinda Carlisle and Susanna Hoffs spliced and egg, bought an incubator and a guitar, I think this could be the end result.

Tryouts for the human race, from Burlington to Bonn
Ah, we are a quarter billion strong :disco:

I do wonder if any Louise fans also think they now hear where the Naked verses were knicked from.

The Beaches. I'd say oh good a song I can switch to display video for, but unfortunately it has a video. 3 Sporty Spices and a Sheridan Smith. I like the song.

Someone needs to tell Sara Parkman that this kind of edit with 240p footage isn't really the best. But also tell her she has one of the standouts. Not sure I'll vote for it though.

Listening again now…

Closer… inoffensive but not really grabbing as an opener

Lene… this could’ve been entered to Halloweenvision, not bad!

Pan Pan… straight over my head

Hemlocke… more like it, interesting voice, levels, builds nicely, slightly. Very noice

Caribou… excellent sequencing BT.

Left handed… I’m left handed. The met met mer bit reminds me of something

White Lies… oh so this is about Billie Eilish’s song Ocean Eyes. Like his upper register, chorus is an earworm

Dani… it’s not as good as the other ASFM song, a bit like Loreen and Eurovision. Good though.

Wale Watu… sounds instantly familiar. Quite hypnotic.

Caitie… that’s going straight in my basket

Emma… Kate bush meets Shakespeare sister

Tryouts… oh this is good. Very thrusty

Beaches… relatable

Pali… in theory this should be right in my wheelhouse but I sort of zoned out

Rosen… bird sounds are cute. More sequencing BT???

Birdy… ok so potentially controversial take, this is obviously good. But I know birdy, so my thing with entering artists like this is that I just think if I was interested in listening to birdy then I would have. Give me something new.
