Best version of ‘Just Be Good To Me’

I’ve been having multiple moments to this song of late for some reason.

Realistically, it’s obviously between the HIGH DRAMA of the SOS Band original and the cool early 90s insouciance of Beats International & Lindy Layton.

The Prof Green & Lily Allen version is ABYSMAL I remember it being hyped as an obvious #1 at the time, but for once cooler heads prevailed.

I only recently discovered that Dido had a crack at it. She brings all the energy and excitement that you’d expect

I never knew that Beats International was a cover ! My mum had it on vinyl and me and my siblings played it a LOT !

The original is one of the first things Jam & Lewis of Janet Jackson fame produced! The more you know!

The SOS Band of course. Classic Jam & Lewis. Also loved ‘The Finest’ by them too. the Beats International cover was very good too.

Beats International was a fun moment and has a lot of nostalgia for me but the original is perfect. The SOS Band’s greatest hits is a collection worth checking out. 80s funk has become one of my favourite genres of all time now, so much great discovery in recent years.

And Dido really has the most bland, beige voice of all time

SOS band only just edges out Beats International because of the insane Jam & Lewis production. The others may as well just not exist.

I liked the Lindy Layton at the time, but have to say listening to it now for the first time in years, up against the SOS band version - it seems like pretty weak tea.

Beats International. The 'Guns Of Brixton' bassline is a masterstroke.

Mariah's Daydream tone over this is unbeatable. She should have put it on #1s alongside Sweetheart.

I could go either way between the original and Beats International.

Take Your Time (Do It Right) is still number one S.O.S for me.
