Twenty years ago I had to use credit cards for a year to buy food, pay the bills and pay the mortgage. They were at over £37k and I've paid all of it back now, it's been a long slog.

Thats impressive, fair play. It would have been cheaper to buy a new identity.
 
That’s the best way to do it if you’re able to and stick to your plan.

What musical equipment? I didn’t know you played/composed?
On this occasion it was a bass guitar, a posh reverb pedal and a handheld digital recorder. About £800 including some leads - paid off at about £47 per month over 18 months.
