What's a girl to do: Cristina's Christmas classic debris and ennui never loses its spark despite losing everything else it seems. Hanging on by a thread, each line revealing or revelling in yet more misery, numbness and abandonment. God it's brilliant. I think in one of her album reissue linear notes it is said she was the Madonna we should have got - we were certainly denied an icon when she never returned to pop world (not fully anyway), and yet how on earth could she top Sleep It Off and this brutal gem that deserves every bit of its cult classic status?
