Emmerdale is now a more watched soap than EastEnders nowadays. Is that right?

My mum stopped watching Emmerdale about 15 years ago and I know of no one else who has ever watched it.

As I'm not very elderly easily Eastenders. I'm sure Emmerdale is more popular, but so was Brexit.

Emmerdale has much better disasters, and that’s really all I care about.

I can't choose they both have their moments.

Emmerdale does stunt / special / events better than the other soaps, Eastenders included. They're much more prepared to experiment with film styles and episode structures.

But in normal day-to-day it lags. I do think it suffers for 75% of their cast being Dingles, which rather limits their ability to play freely with relationships. And their characters largely lack the CAMP of Eastenders or Coronation Street.
