Friday is feeling positive

This variation seems to really linger. Don't do too much too soon, Star, just in case it goes long.

It's hard to know the rules these days. They did give me the week off work, although that means I lose a week's wages which isn't great. I have to do the school run today because Mr Star has gone down, but that's outdoors and I just drop and go.
I really need a few bits from the shops though today.

I have to say, I think that's ridiculous. Not giving sick pay to staff just ensures they'll bring their illnesses in to work and spread them around. We've had it too - there's no sick pay in your first 6 months and the result is everyone dragging themselves in sneezing and coughing and then everyone is going down with all sorts.

It's a whole weeks wages gone for me. And yes we'll survive, but it's not ideal. We can claim some sort of sick pay after day 4, but I'll likely be back in on Monday so can't even get that.

We gave to go to SCHOOL today for a progress conference with teachers and social workers. Why do I feel like I'm in TROUBLE?
Because that's how you're supposed to feel.

I remember one parent's evening, the only one Mr F ever attended, when spawn was five. The teacher had said spawn was doing very well in most areas but sometimes her work didn't get done and she seemed to be away with the fairies. She then looked pointedly at Mr F who wasn't even listening and was gazing out into the playground. I just said "well, you can see where that comes from".

It's always OK to throw the other parent under the bus to save yourself! :D

If it's any consolation @Iguana and @Tisch, the thought of every parent meeting I had as a teacher, whether it was a standard one or for a specific purpose, filled me with dread and made me question my practice.

Invariably 99% of them were subsequently very positive and mostly valuable. Teachers just want to know that the parents/carers care and are doing their best, and that their efforts are valued also x

I feel guilty being a teacher half the time.

Also, I fucking hate/ love meeting parents. Some are just terrible people who explain how their children are, or more confusingly make you wonder how the child came out so great.

Other awful ones are the types who come in acting like they know more than you. Guess what, loads of people are history buffs, but no one knows all of history, so your knowledge of an obscure WW1 battle, doesn't interest or impress me.

Generally the best parents are just normal. If they have a good understanding of their child, don't mess with our job and we won't mess with yours.

Going to be really interesting to see the transition to high school - I deffos see Ron Jr changing, getting a bit more testosterone driven and caring more about the social side of school. He's turning into teen me and its funny but also frightening. I was a nightmare.

Kylie's teacher pulled aside Mr Star the other at pick up time asking to have a word. He immediately panicked, but turns out Kylie was the one being bullied :(

Are you in the class whatsapp group yet? They're gold, comments like 'it is inset day tomorrow, what time does school finish?'

I'm off to the physio in a bit. I'm not looking toward to it. I'm in pain already and these intense stretches just hurt MORE.

You lose ALL week's salary for having covid? What is that? A punishment?

I am out of energy for the week. I think I will have a proper music night tonight; 4 or 5 albums, maybe a small libation to accompany them. I have bought a lot of new stuff lately and a few things have only had one listen.

Heh. I'm going to tidy up a few bits and bobs then I'm calling it for the week.

I've been selling some records, doing a bit of Christmas shopping and Mr Sheena has just suggested we wander up to the pub for a bit. I think I can be persuaded :disco:

I left work at 6.45, got back from the gym an hour to go and now I'm ready to go to the bed. Oh, it's all VERY exciting. 😴
