Do you remember that extremely darksided poster that used to draw things in MS Paint?
 
@Tisch we have separate washer and dryer, both Samsung and we're happy with them! We get through a LOT of washing though.
 
London peeps, how do you manage with children on the underground?
 
Are you asking people with their own children, or the rest of us who have to put up with them?

Well presumably you just push them in front of the next train to High Barnet :(

But yes, I realise the question is utterly unclear. I meant how does it work travelling with kids. Do they have to have their own ticket? I'm up in a few weeks to see Frozen with a couple of mine. And it's a generation on from the first time I came up when I used to buy a day ticket for myself and I don't remember what I did for the children.

Do Oyster cards even exist any more? I've got one somewhere, but was just planning on using my bank card. It's capped at a daily maximum still, isn't it?

You can just tap your bank card. With the kids they just go through, you don't need a ticket for them. Usually you'll take them through the bigger gates, the ones that you take your luggage etc through.
 
So you just tap your card and then you all walk through together! I did look at booking that Frozen show but it's so expensive :argh:

Obviously it's never going to be CHEAP, but I'm paying sixty quid for front row of the grand circle, which doesn't seem so bad. Obviously there are more expensive seats, but for big show (and with small children), I wanted to be high enough to look down on the stage.

It's similar prices for The Lion King on tour here, so for West End I didn't think it was bad at all.

They're free under 11. We took my youth group recently to the cinema and the younger ones just walked in with me through the wider gate. Same when I've taken Kylie/ Dannii actually, although they're a bit smaller so we get through the normal gates if we're quick!

Yes. Slightly worried the day may be too much for the younger one who's 5, but the older one who's 7 will love it, I'm sure. Got the London Eye booked afterwards as well.

Twice the chance of something breaking. Both times I’ve had a combi, the dryer has broken quite soon beyond repair. Plus the fact you often have to take some washed clothes out to be able to adequately dry your load :ken:

We don't have the space for a dryer and have always been warned off the combis.

We have a giant heated airer in the spare room. Nice if you want clothes dried quickly while they hang. We can normally take them out the machine when we wake up and they're dry by the time we leave for work.

Anyway that's not what you're asking at all.

No but a heated airer might be a good and cheaper alternative to a combi! So I'll look into that too, as we don't have room for a dryer either

I don't have an issue at the moment with how long things take to dry, but I just fancied an upgrade after our washing machine blew up last week and stunk the house out. :)
