Happy Halloween Moopy!

I went to a party on Saturday but I didn’t dress up for work. Luckily nobody else seems to have here either

Anyone been bombarded with TRICK OR TREATERS? I have just came back in with the dog and my sexy head torch and it is so bloody mild, although it is quite misty and eery.
 
One guy came to the office in fancy dress.

It was fucking hilarious because he's a prick and posted on the intranet a week ago how much he was looking forward to seeing everyone in costume. I can't help but feel that this put paid to anyone's notions of doing so.

I never really understand people who don’t do fancy dress. I have had lots of friends through the years that refused point blank to dress up for fancy dress parties and they could never really explain why. I always wondered if it was because they didn’t want people looking at them, or couldn’t be bothered but can’t really remember a valid answer. Fair enough if you don’t like Halloween but not wearing fancy dress to a fancy dress party?

I find it an utter effort and expense. If I'm going to a party, I'm going to socialise and drink, not dress up.

Ah right, I understand if it is from a financial point of view as it is unlikely you will wear it again. I always plan what I am going to wear when heading out so for me I don’t really find it much of an effort and enjoy piecing my fancy dress outfit together.
 
If someone wants to buy and arrange it, then fine. On drunken whims I have had make up applied or gone out in female attire, but I'm not wasting time and energy on one offs.
 
I find it FUN. I used to throw a Halloween party up here every year for the kids AND adults. I used to decorate the house top to toe, and have themed food and drinks. I kind of miss it. :(
 
I absolutely hate fancy dress and as I always say, if you don’t want me at your party in my trademark peach mini, off the shoulder daffodil blouse and parrot fascinator, I don’t want to be at your party :)

Why do you not like it? Is it for the same reasons as Ag?
 
I went to a Madonna fancy dress party a few years ago and thought the black wool around the head Rebel Heart look was more than sufficient :)

I used to hate fancy dress as a youngster cos I was so fat. And didn't want to draw more attention to myself.

Now days I just don't get the opportunity to dress up :(

I wouldn’t dream of having a party and making demands about what people could and couldn’t wear. However, all this said and expensive Rebel Heart look aside, I did turn up in drag at a party some years back to co-host a bingo thing. No-one asked me to which is probably why I did it. Yes, we don’t get enough fancy dress parties. I am turning 50 next year though… :disco:

This seems a popular theme at the moment. Chrishell from Selling Sunset and her partner G Flip did the same thing.

If I had to dress as Mandy I'd be fine, jeans and a hoodie!

It's just an extra errand. Why make it such a hassle to attend a party? It's expensive and time consuming.

They loved it! Bagful of sweets and one old dear gave them £2 each. But we went with some class mates and it just got really hectic. Must have been 15 kids and it was hard to keep an eye on them. At one point we got mixed up with another bunch of kids and it was just madness! Off we do it again next year we'll go in a smaller group. I was really amazed at how many people were giving out sweets though.
 
Halloween didn't exist here when I was a kid, At all, never heard of it until much later when started to become popular, because we have to import anything from the USA (yes, I know it's not originally from America, but you know what I mean) and anything that means $$$ for some people. Now it's everywhere and I understand the appeal specially for kids, but I couldn't care less.

We have our own tradition here, All Saint's Day or whatever you call it, that's been totally eclipsed by that damn Halloween.
 
We watched "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and "The Exorcist", just to go from sublime to the ridiculous and, as suspected, didn't have a single caller.

It didn't exist in my childhood either but never really caught on here, maybe it's that the elements of it already exist in other traditions of the year that are meant for different occasions.
