JADE - Plastic Box

It’s pretty good, as usual. Don’t think it’ll be a hit but I think that will only happen on a very off chance for her anyway. She’s got a very festival heavy summer, and she has a dedicated fanbase - so I guess just build up the back catalogue and she will be set in a Jessie Ware level of success type of way.

it's okay, but it never goes anywhere. too understated if anything, chorus and middle 8 both needed to pop more.

Going all in on the ageing queens demographic with the Don’t Tell Me/Another Chance references.

Really like this, more delicate and sultry melody than her others. Album is shaping up very nicely she's definitely proving herself as a live act at the moment.

In at #106 on Spotify. People seem to be moaning that is not good, but for her I think that’s ok? #85 on Apple Music as well. Given she’s still #2 on iTunes I’m thinking she may have a shot at the top 40, but likely #40-#50 which is rather expected I’d assume? Of course, depends how the next few days go.

The album isn't out until September is it? I imagine we'll get one more track before then as well - presumably that'll be half the album available before it's released.

In at #44.

No physicals for this one was evidently a mistake.

True, but it would just artificially inflate it by about 7 spots.

Given her history, to be getting to #44 off her own back isn’t a complete disaster.

Plastic Box is superb, doing pretty well on streaming. But Gossip with Confidence Man is just :disco: - I loved the Glastonbury performance when is that out on streaming?

Plastic Box still #95 in the midweeks. Not exactly setting the charts alight, but good to see like FUFN it’s managed to at least stabilise somewhere I’m the chart, albeit it low.

This has grown on me nicely but it very much sounds like a RAYE song from her Euphoric Sad Songs album (or the pre being dropped era, hopefully not an omen for Jade!)

Also the first 6 tracks make such a tight sounding album so far. I just wish we had the whole thing already. This strategy of dragging out an album release for over a year is infuriating. Seems to happen more often for new artists, and I feel like it kills rather than builds momentum.

God I love this. Just a perfect pop song. Definitely her best track for me. It appears to be getting good airplay but for whatever reason her popularity and momentum aren't translating into major chart activity.

anything I said I take back - this is a fantastic pop song and maybe her best to date. I love the slightly different vocal approach she takes to each chorus.

Looks like the promo is kicking in

Very good interview, she gives great quote.... fucking hell at X Factor initiated foof waxing.

Bless though:

Her mum, Norma, a primary school business manager of Yemeni and Egyptian descent, had the look of Jade’s ultimate idol Diana Ross – and for a time young Jade believed her mum to be living a double life. Norma encouraged the fantasy, claiming that she was going to play concerts when, in fact, she was off down the bingo hall.
