JADE - That's Showbiz Baby! (Sep 12)

Hopefully she'll get a Brits boost as well.

It's Artist Of The Year rather than Female now, isn't it? Either way, I'd imagine Olivia Dean would be favoured over her - the industry will very much want to push her internationally with that title.

I see Church is nowhere to be seen near the chart in the new year. Such a waste of a top tier track slipping it out in December when all the xmas songs dominate.

Use Me is my current fave from the deluxe. Perhaps she would have been better saving these tracks for album number 2 proper and releasing this year.

I think she'll want to do something different again on album two. I don't think anything on the deluxe is really THAT great to be kept for album two. it was just a good extra to the main album.

Given her sales vs her video budget, I wouldn't suggest a second album is guaranteed....

That's Showbiz Baby SNUBBED

the Wolf Alice album that came and went overnight getting in over Jade is absurd

For clarity - I vastly prefer Jade's album and bought it twice (vinyl and extended CD) but "absurd" is not the right language.

I think the bigger picture is that Jade's album announced an exciting new popstar, was high quality and came with a crystal clear vision, housed multiple songs that made critics' end of year best lists, and gives her a clear platform to build on.

Wolf Alice's album is a mid career effort that's nowhere near the high of the last one - they may have the fanbase to achieve decent sales but I think Jade had a lot more cultural impact, and the BRITS shouldn't be nominating just on the basis of one selling more than another. That's Showbiz Baby was one of the best British albums of the year and should be in there.

To be honest, with Church and the reissue basically tanking, I do wonder what the future looks like for Jade.

She’s built up enough gay goodwill to tour for as long as she likes, but the whole project must have lost a lot more money than, say, Perrie with her three low-budget videos.

Just heard Unconditional on Love Island - so good. I guess I'll just have to jump in and give the actual album a try now.

Gone silver now, so at least grabbed a certification. I imagine will trickle down to gold over the next year or two.

solo album sales update

62,110 JADE - THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!
24,499 Perrie - Perrie

#15 in the midweeks - I think vinyls for the re-release are out? It’ll probably sink to around #40 but should see a few thousand more added this week.

God the vinyl pressing of the reissue is annoying. Why cram 7 songs on Side 1 and 2 apiece and then only four on Sides 3 and 4?

ANYWAY, this week I've decided If My Heart Was A House is almost as good as FUFN in my JADE TOP TEN:

1. FUFN
2. If My Heart Was A House
3. Before You Break My Heart
4. Angel Of My Dreams
5. Frozen
6. Church
7. Use Me
8. It Girl
9. This Is What We Dance For
10.Plastic Box

Funnily enough I saw a post from him today on some backpacking trip - alone - and noticed she had not liked his post like she always did. So I was expecting this!

HARD disagree! He is very outspoken about toxic masculinity and a huge LGBTQ and feminist ally. I find him very refreshing

He was INSUFFERABLE as Lily Allen's understudy on that podcast she did with Miquita off T4, so maybe she dodged a bullet.
he's Lily's full time replacement now!

he does seem quite omnipresent lately
