Weirdly this is tracking poorly for its box office opening, projected around 15m domestic. Original opened with 30m.

I think a big issue is the original was accidentally camp where this one is doing Drag Race levels of it

I’m not surprised at all. The original just wasn’t very good. A movie clearly reverse engineered from its trailer.

I loved the original and was really excited that it was getting a sequel, but this ended up being a massive waste of time, up there with the Bob Dylan biopic as the least invested I've been whilst at the cinema this year.

I think the trailer was really misleading as it's hardly camp AT ALL, and other than the odd glimpse, they really missed what the fans loved about the first movie. Took far too long for M3GAN to show up, didn't see nearly enough of her in the form that we know her for, the plot was overly complicated and far too much technical language. Shame as the AI stuff is actually very relevant.

The best bits were when she burst into singing Kate Bush and then the very end when she popped up in the word processor.

@Moderator could we please get a poll so that I can award it a 4? :manson:

I’ve literally only booked to see it next week after work to spend some time in an air-conditioned room for a while before the sun goes down.

Going to see it tomorrow but expecting to underwhelmed.

Appalling 1.5m on Thursday previews.

I don’t know if it was rock bottom expectations but I loved this :D Far too long though.

I would like a whole album of Megan Kate Bush covers please.

It seems they have faith in the franchise, there's a spin-off out next year called SOULM8TE, it sounds exactly like M3GAN 1 but with a lonely adult instead of a child.

Or they had faith, SOULM8TE has already wrapped - too late to do anything about it now, let's see if it actually gets a cinematic release.

That opening weekend is catastrophic - barely more than Companion opened with (budget 10m).

Opens with just over 500k in the UK, when the original did £2.4m
