Mercury Prize 2023

Love them, have been a big fan for ages.

Saw them at Glastonbury this year, live jazz and mushrooms in the sun, glorious afternoon.

Another (albeit more unrepresentative) point in favour of my current theory that we're about to enter a JAZZ CAFÉ era in popular culture. Gonna give the album a spin tomorrow
I'm absolutely here for it.

The UK has a thriving jazz scene and its a million miles away from the cliche chin stroking image you’d imagine.

Sons Of Kemet and Binker & Moses are huge favourites in this house. If you've not heard Ill Considered, get onto it. Also Shabaka Hutchings of Sons Of Kemet also has a project called Shabaka and the Ancestors that's well worth a listen.

Fair play to them for finally giving the award to the the Token Jazz Album, mind you.

Love Sons of Kemet and Moses Boyd, Oscar Jerome as well.

Cliche as fuck but getting stoned and listening to Jazz is amazing. I love music and weed in general but something about the freeform nature of jazz just really engrosses me.

I love Nu Jazz like Tom Misch and Jordan Rakei. Anything jazz leaning is right in my lane but full on jazz I don’t give much time to. Nice background music but that’s it

I love a bit of freeform jazz but it's the groups who can have that freedom without becoming just a total racket are where the real boo can be found. Anyone can just blat away without listening to what's going on around them, being able to drift out and lock back in again is a real skill.
