Well, it's "St. Valentine's Day" isn't it? As in "the day belonging to St Valentine" so I would say "Valentine's".

I don't remember Warsaw being particularly blessed with public toilets :(
 
How can junkie's take opiates for years and Mr F take tons of painkillers for years with the minimum of negative side effects and I'm now so intolerant to cocodamol that I've only had two separate ones, four hours apart, and my skin's already crawling? One more and I'll be properly itching, it's so unfair. :(

I liked it a lot. A lot of the historic bit is (I believe) reconstructed and feels almost too perfect, but it's very well done and I'm sure will weather in. And it's clearly a rapidly growing city - I remember a lot of construction going on while were there 5 years ago, most of it really interesting. They were using a lot of renowned international architects. A lot cheaper than Krakow as well. I think I'd like to go to Gdansk next.

It's just yr Donald, as we say in Glasgow. I've always considered myself to be very fortunate to be allergic to nothing other than hard work.

I happen to know this as I was searching for one today for genuine wee wee purposes. I ended up walking into a Caffé Nero, but which was smaller than expected and they clocked me walking in. I couldn’t understand any of the menu and the girl I got couldn’t speak English so I got flustered and just said “TEA!”, at which she made me something vaguely brown to go. I don’t drink tea or coffee so I took it to the loo, tipped it down the sink, had my wee and left. Ah well, it’s on expenses... :D
 
As for Poland, I loved Gdańsk and also the beach resort Sopot near it. Krakow was pretty but I don’t remember anything about it. This is my fourth time in Warsaw but the first time I’ve properly had to look around. It is still quite cheap- especially to eat and drink- but very up and coming and international, with the real, top end designer stores everywhere. I always stay at the 5 star Sheraton as it’s near my office here and usually only costs £80 a night. Records were (on the whole) oddly expensive though, sadly...
 
In other news, I just went for a nap and ended up sleeping for three hours...whoops!

I could write you a list as long as my arm for all the things I'm allergic to. Waterproof plasters being the most random. Perfume being the most annoying because everybody wants to smell lovely but nobody wants to spend all day sneezing with constantly dripping eyes and nose. Poor office lady can't wear her favourite perfume to work because it sets me off when she's in the next room wearing it :D

We have some similar stuff depending on which floor you work on - on one floor, no-one can have peanuts, on another aerosol usage is banned and there's another where no perfume can be sprayed. The floor I work on has none of these so I regularly go to work with a subtle coating of liquidised Snickers.
 
There is a man next to me in my hotel restaurant on Tinder swiping right to EVERY SINGLE WOMAN. Talk about desperate.

Shame, he’s QUITE my type. I’d NOSH HIM OFF for a plate of Polish dumplings...

Have you been to Łódź? I think it's pronounced 'Woodge' or something bonkers. I seem to recall it was a little over an hour outside of Warsaw. That was a really interesting city, with an old factory complex converted into a vast cultural quarter full of shops, restaurants, bars, museums and galleries. Lots of great street art as well.

Well worth a side trip or a couple of days if you can manage it.
 
The best bit of Krakow is the Jewish quarter. The main town is fine. Also useful for visiting Auschwitz and the salt mines, I guess.

Also on the list of wanting to visit Gdansk.

I haven't, but I have a stag do in Poznan in April and am coming to my office after and with a random day in between, I might just do that- thanks!
 
My Polish family lived in one of the Commie Tower blocks which was quite something to visit back in the day. Krakow is great, I hope to go back in the next couple of years. Also the salt mines are a total WTF in terms of tourist venues.
