Neil Young, Joni Mitchell vs Spotify & Joe Rogan

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) I've now watched the clip above and well that was just the worst. "I'm Italian!" I remember getting laughed at in an African American module seminar for my history degree when I suggested so many white Americans exclaim things like that for the deflective reasons spoken far more eloquently in the clip than I ever could. "I didn't realise I was doing stand up" was my only response as I immediately wanted the ground to swallow me.

She was big in the 90s, though moreso in America. Very much part of the Natalie Imbruglia/Alanis Morissette alt-femme wave.

Knowing your tastes, you'd probably enjoy her brief foray into questionably ironic slut-pop over her more successful acoustic ballads.

I only know Jewel from performing on Light Lunch once, and also that she has a sort of concept character pop album?

it's really incredible how these nutjobs always bring it back to sex trafficking. as though there aren't far more urgent and prevalent issues to be concerned with, like middle aged women with electric purple hair.

Wasn't Jewel sort of the Taylor Swift of the 90s, but more focussed on the US market (local star).

A bit less teenage and a bit more MOR than Swift I’d say, but similar boat. Looking at Wiki it’s quite amazing just how big the debut (and second album as well to an extent) were in North America and down under. Never made much UK or European impact though chart-wise.
