NEW Kim Wilde thread: Pop Don't Stop greatest hits tour, vinyl, DVD etc.

Oh but you must! The box set is essential and a Cherry Records masterpiece.
There's even a Q&A with Kim Wilde in the booklet.

Most of which wasn’t replicated in the vinyl.

But I would never play it…

I've thrown the Pop Don't Stop vinyl on this morning after this thread and I know it's been said before, but fuck me, LOVE IS HOLY really is TRANSCENDENT.

I often (as in, every time I play Love Is Holy) wonder Belinda made of it all :eyes:

Love Blonde is great- it just didn’t fit with anything else on Catch and so often gets dismissed, I feel.

That's sad. They met working on "Tommy" in 95/96, so they must have been married for 25 years or so.

Ricky Wilde reliving his popstar youth in a duo with Nina. Includes a Dollar cover as well as Lovers on a Beach by Dame Kim:

It is a decent cover, though Nina can't help but sound a bit of a blank slate by comparison to Kim's more emotive performance.

Kim features on backing vocals on this:

I wonder if we'll get new material from Kim this year. The mooted unreleased album doesn't seem to have come to anything.

Holiday Sidewinder supported Sophie when I saw her last year, and I rather enjoyed her, so I was intrigued when I saw Kim had a feature on her new single. But they really are only backing vocals, and not particularly prominent ones at that. Song is pretty average, as well.

If only. She’s still touring this year, but no UK dates that I’ve spotted, though she’s bound to do the usual festival circuit I’d have thought.

I think she has toured with Sophie quite a bit.

I was also a little disappointed at Kim's vocal being rather buried but Cliffhanger has grown on me quite a bit.

Her first album is great, and that sound probably suited her vocally a bit more than the new material. She does a good Kokomo too.

Expanded deluxe versions of Love Moves, Love Is and Now & Forever in the way in September via Cherry Red. I’ve just linked one but the others come up as related releases on the page.

I wish they'd stop releasing these bare bones vinyl sets, though I concede it will be MARVELLOUS to finally get Now and Forever on vinyl. Looking through those sets, there's nothing new on there from the vaults, though- well, unless there's the odd promo only remix or something.

Does anybody need more of Now & Forever?

Excited for the other two though...

Now and Forever isn't as TERRIBLE as is made out, to be honest, but the other two are properly great. I still think Love Moves flopping as it did was a travesty.

FINALLY

And they all look very extensive so hopefully Cherry Pop won't go pulling super deluxe versions a few years later like they did with the first three albums.

I feel like I am always saying this and probably just need to get used to it but reissues are pricey these days.

So I'm going to get the vinyls and expanded CDs.
But won't bother with the picture discs

I still can't believe how HARD Love Moves flopped. ODD!

It was a different time. She'd had her biggest hits with what was essentially SAW- influenced material. The tide had begun to turn against pop by 1990 and she wasn't getting the airplay. I do think "Can't Get Enough (Of Your Love)" might have given her a minor hit if it had been the first single over here (rather than entirely ignored) but they decided to try for a different market and it didn't come off. I seem to remember that radio wouldn't touch any of the singles.

Yeah I know what you mean but i think it seems to be based a little on the perceived loondom of the fanbases what way the projects pan out.

Some of the boxsets work out better deals. I ordered the Tanita Tikaram one of the first five albums expanded and remastered and it’s being sold by Cherry Red for £33 which is very reasonable.

I might need to see if I can hear the remixes first as that Now & Forever could have actually have been a surprising delight if there were more of a remix range.

Anyway, I'm throbbing for Love Is and will decide later today what I'm doing package-wise. I've got Gina incoming today and currently splurging on far too much physical media than I have any sane need for.

Extended edits of Someday and I Believe In You though. We are "close" to living in a perfect world right now.

The Chinese Democracy of gay interest reissues

What are people going to make weekly posts about on the Cherry Pop facebook group now?

Surely now it'll just move to Never Say Never!

There's also the unreleased album from around this era, right? She trashed a whole album of stuff just after Now and Forever flopped.

Which she was talking about releasing a couple of years back. I assume that is not happening, at least for now, as there are these reissues and the new album on the way.

Yeah, I doubt it at this point, though surely it would suit the Cherry Red deal down to the ground. Presumably if they did want to release it, the next tranche would make sense- with something collating the wilderness years.

I've only just noticed that the blurb mentions the new album isn't out until next year.
