I think they usually are, but for us it's supplied by Bristol Water, but Wessex Water provide the sewerage service. I think that's unusual, but not unique.

I think for us (two people, with a water meter) it's about £30 total a month, with the sewerage costing slightly more than the water. I let Mr L deal with that though.

Water bills are alien to me. In Scotland we pay ours through council tax. It’s not metered either. Not sure whether we get a better deal or not.

Rachey if you are in doubt you can maybe cross check your meter reading with the consumption stated on the bill.
If there's a big gap and they've got a wrong reading am sure that you'll be able to dispute it.
If there isn't and the consumption is a lot for two people, maybe there's a leaking tap, or a leaking hose or sth that increases consumption.

It means if you get a discount/exemption, it applies to water too, so definitely better.

I just checked and mine (Council tax band b) is a little under £400 a year for waste and water, which will actually be £300 with single person discount

Thanks, I think I'll get Mandy to check. The problem is I'm in a block of 11 flats, all the others have individual meters, ours runs off the main one in the street, so once the others pay theirs, we pay what's left. But someone did tell me there's a communal tap which I assume we end up paying for.
