My Mike Leigh knowledge has some pretty big gaps, but inspired by Diane Morgan describing Roger Sloman's performance as one of the funniest of all time I sought it out.

Loved it. Even though it's over 50 years old I imagine anybody who's ever been dragged on a camping holiday would recognise aspects of this couple. Sloman's character in particular really is completely insufferable, but I like how in her own way, Candice Marie and her ever-present bobble hat is just as awful if not slightly moreso. :D

Also, I know it's a cliche that everybody looked older in the past, but agog that this was a 30 year old man in 1976!

This is one of his I haven’t seen - and I’ve seen a lot - but the 70s/80s stuff I know less of! Will give this a go!

I've never been able to watch it all of the way through without pausing several times for a CRINGE FIT

Sloman and Steadman both possibly doing the best work of their careers

Gave me a mortal fear of domestic holidays. 13/10.
